Interesting.
It sounds like 1788 should be called deliverance day, but I'm not sure that any indigenous people from around the world feel they are better off since colonization.

I have met one group of people who kind of do - some Maoris. It's completely unique and interesting

I'd hardly say people think Bolt is racist because he has a differing opinion. They think he's racist because 99% of his comments about indigenous people or those with a brown complexion are negative. And he denies the Stolen Generations happened. And he faced court for writing sarcastic columns full of mistruths claiming that indigenous people were only claiming aboriginal heritage because it got them arts grants...

Go back a post. I said I don't agree with most of what he says. I do however defend his right to say it as long as it is not racist

“There was a lot of anger, a lot of sorrow, for this day and very much the feeling of invasion day,”

FFS WAS. He is saying that he is willing to move past it, only Blind Freddy couldn't see that. It's basic reading comprehension. Sorry to be blunt, but it's been said so many times.

This is further reinforced by the next part of the speech.

"But in the last five years, I’ve really changed my perception of what is Australia Day, of what it is to be Australian and for me, it’s about celebrating the positives, that we are still here as indigenous people, our culture is one of the longest surviving cultures in the world, over 40,000 years.

“That is something we need to celebrate and all Australians need to celebrate.

“There are people out there thinking that today is a great day for Australia — well, it is.

“It’s a day we celebrate over 225 years of European settlement and right now, that’s who we are as a nation but we also need to acknowledge our fantastic Aboriginal history of over 40,000 years and just know that some Aboriginal people out there today are feeling a little bit angry, a little bit soft in the heart today because of that, and that’s OK as well.”

It's obvious he hasn't.

I hadn't read it before today... and hearing the furore regarding it I read it earlier expecting something slightly inflammatory.

I was shocked when I read it. There was nothing. He even wishes everyone a happy Aus day (or words that that effect).

If that's what they're hiding behind, well we've certainly got a long way to go as a country.
So pretty much u can say the people who boo him saying they do it because of his Aoty speech are racist!

A stadium full of people boo-Ing the AOTY is a very ugly form of censoring. What's more, it not only censors Adam but also the next generation of aboriginal players.

I hate to say this - and yes I accept it is racist - but this is such a typical white thing to do. Why are we such a frightened race??
What is a typical white thing to do?

Andrew bolt was one the 7.30 report expressed some good point. Especially why did Goodes do the war dance, which incites violence, when instead he could have done something like the lizard crawl which gerrad inglis does.
Adam needs Andrew Bolts approval for how he celebrates??

Wtf??

That wasn't in his AOTY speech at all. You haven't read it or listened to it have you?

A speech intended to divide by a person hand picked to win an award that he didn't and still doesn't deserve

Hey mate, go and ask Josh Hill if he celebrates Australia Day. It's being aware of this countries history, not the garbage you call it. Why the **** would an indigenous person celebrate Australia day. Give me a reason, I beg you.

And still didn't answer my question, and said it was meant to divide when it clearly says "The ultimate reward is when all Australians see each other as equals and treat each other as equals. To me, everything is about people and the choices we make. I believe it’s the people and the interactions between us that makes this country so special. Thank you so much and have a great Australia Day."

Anyway - I'm done with a troll like you.

tl;dr ;)

That's true.
And the fact that they signed a treaty with the settlers and developed a partnership is most likely the reason.

Unfortunately, the aboriginal community was classified under the flora and fauna act here, so no partnership was possible.
