Did anyone else hear Brian Waldren on 6pr tonight? I didn't hear it properly but it was along the lines of he had mail that the AFL will weight the top picks this year and those who have been down the bottom consistently over the last few years will get the higher picks. Even if Freo finish last we will get something like pick 5 :rage:
Theres no way they could implement this halfway through a season.

I thought you would have logically had Apeness coming into the team as a positive because he is far far far more likely than Hurley, Morabito and Yarran.
Mike is progressing but his fitness is a long way off AFL standard .He has had knee surgery and TBH he will not be ready until almost the end of the season . Hurley had a good pre season until he injured his hip so I would expect him back sooner rather than later ,at training he looks like he is not far off returning to the field . Yarran is improving every training session and I see him in the same way as Hurley .Moribito is close to being ready to play for Peel . He had a minor hamstring complaint so he would be the first of the 3 to play for Peel . These players need to play asap and with 4 or 5 Peel games under their belts then they should be playing in the league side so that the list management see if they can play at the higher level .

I would like to say I'm surprised but I'm not. This organisation just makes things up as they go along? Rules on the run again. If true of course. We aren't the only victims of the AFL flip flopping, clubs need to make a stand.

Yep lets give it to the club that drugged its way into oblivion.

Typical incompetence from the AFL if this is true. They decide the outcome they want and then work backwards from there.

Are any on the ruckmen playing in the WAFL that we should look that are better than Hannath and Clarke . I'm not to concerned with their age so long as they are under 29 years old .

Course we are, he is a forward.

Freo should have a crack at Witts too from Collingwood.
If we are going to lose Langdon, I'd like Witts to be i involved back our way. Sandi swap, just needs to build his tank.

I heard snippets of that Walden bloke driving home from work. I thought what he was trying to say was something to do with the academy bidding because the Gold Coast, Brisbane and GWS have some top end Academy talent that would push their picks into the top 5.

They did talk about Brisbane perhaps putting forward (again) a request for a priority pick due to being down the bottom end for a number of years on end and perhaps this time being successful. A club like Fremantle being their first year down the bottom being no chance. I would expect the priority pick for Brisbane to be end of first round.

If you remember West Coast ended up with a priority pick in 2010 after tanking and used it to get Jack Darling. It was a late end of first round pick because of Gold Coast Concessions and compensation picks (ie for Ablett, Bock, Rischitelli, Harbrow etc.).

I wouldn't get wound up. If we finish last we will get the first pick. Seems we're definitely heading for one of the top 3 live picks (excl. any Academy picks in the top 10).

Pretty much all of them would be better than Clarke. He's shizen.

Was thinking about this bloke the other day as I scanned the VFL results for players that are playing in the seconds and could have some value. I think he's only 23 and would be better than Clarke and Griffin at the very least.

I'm still keen on Litherland as well.

Agree on Litherland, heard he is frustrated and wants more senior opportunities. WA lad as well.

Straight away an upgrade on Mzungu, Spurr, Sutcliff, SHeridan, Clancee, Suban, DeBoer or any of our other spuds

GC are the team to trade with this period if we get pick 1.

1st do McCarthy trade

2nd - trade pick 1 for 4 & 10 off GC (they have Melbs 1st rounder)

3rd - draft a classy mid with pick 4 (hopefully SPS) then a KPP at 10.

Win. If. It was only that easy :(
Plus, if we have the #1 and bid on their kids they must use those picks anyway. If they have #1 they control it more.

The way I understand it is if they have pick 1 no one can bid then, so they can get whomever they like. Then say essendon bid on their academy guy, they get moved to pick 2 from where ever they are & have to make up the points value of the pick.

His uncle Paul Litherland is a forward line coach at South Fremantle. Having his ex Box Hill defensive teammate Sam Collins & ex Hawthorn players might help.
Have heard Brad Hill wants to return home - not surprised after seeing he's been charged for assault.

The assault charge combined with the fact his form has declined from a couple of years ago probably means he wouldn't be of interest to us IMO, certainly not for a decent draft pick. He's out of contract in 2017. We'll talk in a year. Until then he can stay at Hawthorn.
