Wait for people who didn't watch the game today to tell you that "Naita only had 8 touches" and use that as a basis of no impact

You only have to check the long-running Naitanui thread on the first page.

Kennedy and Franklin are surely KPF locks for the team at the moment. Yes yes, flat track etc but Lynch was quiet today.

Morris - Rance - Rampe
Shaw - Reid - Docherty
Pendles - Ward - Coniglio
Dahlhaus - Franklin - Zorko
Betts - Kennedy - Waite/Lynch/Riewoldt
NicNat - Hannebery - Dangerfield

Parker, Boyd, Kennedy, Gibbs

Thats true, but I think its taken him a little longer to get going. If he kicks 30 goals though, he might snag a HFF or bench spot.

Have zero issue him getting it based off 18 outstanding and influencial games. He's a chance still.

Not sure about the basis for Boyd and Morris, wouldn't have thought they'd be in the squad let alone the team. Think you're trying to sneak a couple of Dogs in unwarranted. Would have Gibson in ahead of Morris, a second ruck on the pine for Boyd.

Is Joey Montagna close for a HBF spot? He's got career best numbers so far, and he was a genuine lock in 09/10. Shane Savage has had a really good season too, on par if not better than Joey, but I don't think he would even come close to it. Bit of a no-name, but supremely underrated outside of the Saints.

Rooey would be a lock right now on a wing or flank, and Jack Steven would be extremely close in a very tough midfield spot.

Morris is an absolute lock. Has been the best defender in the comp after Rance.

Morris is nowhere near a lock! Rance and Shaw would be the only 2 defenders you could say were locks.

You really think Morris has been significantly better than Talia, Frawley and Thompson? Reid would be behind those 3 at the moment too.

Talia has been better than Rance without even mentioning the fact that Rance missed 2 games.

Few thoughts.
Talia's game on Cameron didn't go unnoticed. Cameron is a scalp and a half.
Whilst we don't see a lot of him in this thread (and he's more like borderline squad right now), it wouldn't take a lot for Jack Gunston to force his way in.
Gibbs is in AA quality form...I'd pick him.
Jack Steven's season a tad underrated in here. Neale as well. No press for them. Dylan Shiel also having a great season but not quite AA. Zorko still travelling alright but form drifting a little...squad and a chance if form picks up again. Sloane still well in contention too.
Luke Parker, Patrick Dangerfield, Sam Mitchell have been slightly down in recent weeks after big starts. Don't forget they have signinficant browny points in the bag. They haven't been poor in the slightest, just off the boil a bit which is fine. Guys like Jack Steven, Treloar, LNeale, Coniglio chopping at their heels. Dangerfield still been good though and is AA for mine without question. Hannebery walks in. D Martin needs another big game or two but coming right into contention.
Has Aaron Hall been that poor after a blistering opening 4-5 rounds ? Seems many now have him out of contention, but s this more due to his team coming down off a fast start ? Can still make the squad for mine.
I'm another that is pretty much sold on Docherty's great season. Pick of the defensive rebounders (AA selectors love to pick them for good reason) so far are Shaw, Rampe, Docherty, Simpson, Pittard. Obviously Shaw is a given, so take your pick of the others. I'm going to add both Montagna and Pendlebury as potential Half Back Flank picks as we go into June....am I the only one that has been seeing them both playing a lot of footy there ? Pendlebury's slow start with niggles is still counting against him and I;m not suggesting he's AA yet...Montagna a HBF chance though.
Riewoldt yet another good game...however he's no lock despite the fact he might be every coaches number 1 bench choice to make an impact and save another rotation...hell of an advantage. All Aust doesn't work that way however...so he's definitely no lock whilst he's playing midfield. They pick the bench more on a "next best" basis rather than any perceived team benefit. HFF/Bench likely where he could be picked. The perfect benchy if you think he's earnt it.
Despite the crap written about Sydney's so called "weak" defence, it is easily argued to be close to the best in the business. It is just another one of those moronic clichés that some commentators like to parrot. Grundy and in particular Rampe have been at or close to AA standard since Rnd 1. Rampe's rebound puts him only second behind Heath Shaw, who along with Betts, Hannebery, Dangerfield and Franklin are likely the only unquestionable locks on accrued performance at this point.
Ruck for me is clearly Goldstein. He was good on Fri night in an excellent contest within the contest. Tippett is obviously also in calculations due to utility factor, and very much another borderline pick. Both had good games with possibly Tippett shading Goldstein, but that doesn't mean Goldstein wasn't very good as well. Only space for 1 centre square ruck on current competition formline...and it is very hard to argue against a #1 ruck on track for a 40-50 goal season with excellent record around the ground for a bench/FP slot. We saw the perfect combo of tall timber last Fri night in my opinion. Natanui and Gawn simply need to maintain form and they are not far off selection...not even halfway and both are squadworthy at least right now.
Josh Kennedy beating up on bottom 8 mobs, especially at Subi.... 6 goals against top 8 mobs so far. Bags of 1, 2 and 3 against similarly placed opposition is not exactly exciting me for an AA FF slot. That is 6 of 37 goals against top 8 clubs. How is his record compared to say Lynch for a FF slot ? Cpl of goals either way in total is nothing to care about right now. Lynch has kicked 4 v North and 2 against 3 other top 8 mobs. 10 of 34 goals against top 8 clubs is better, but all it shows is FF is wide open. Kennedy wins out on his defensive pressure for mine.

Morris is just about in career best form. He's been excellent every single week.
I wouldn't have Boyd in (probably not even in the squad) but Morris as it stands would be in the side for me. He's been incredible.

Dustin Martin would have to be getting a look in after his past 3-4 weeks, needs to continue with it though

JPK quietly building form after coming back from injury. 35 touches (22 contested), 7 clearances, 12 tackles, and a sausage roll
Not there yet but reckon he'll be close after a month

Not even sure Rance should be a lock at this point.

Morris has been better than those three. He's been the best defender in the best defense in the comp. Those three are probably ahead of Ried. Talia especially was just a mistake, he would be chb.
