Never thought I'd own one to be honest, let alone in that condition for that price, I'm over the moon. Ten years, much frustration, and I'm now one off a complete run of 1934 to the present.
that's going to be a very valuable collection one day

I'm tempted to eat every second day until the Double finishes. Will keep in touch.
Get some chicken tendies next time

How's this for a playing schedule?

That was back when an Ashes tour of England went for about 6 months, I guess when they travelled there by boat you had to make the most of it.

These days teams fly in and fly out for a test series in the space of a couple of months.

That playing schedule

All but playing every day and I noticed the tests have 4 playing days with a rest day

Bet those bowlers didn't have a maximum number of overs they were allowed to bowl by sports science clowns
Second Test at Lords ends on 26/6, and they then had to schlep down to Taunton, which would have been a decent trip in those days to plat Somerset the next day. Amazing.

There's a good story in AB's 89 Ashes Diary when they had to play a county the morning after regaining the Ashes, an incredibly hungover/still pissed team of course. Blokes dropping easy catches, think even Boony dropped one at short leg, funny morning of cricket apparently.

Black and tans are an underated drink. Having a couple now while watching World Series.
Not the least bit a baseball fan, but I'm following it on the Guardian live blog, what a year it will have been for underdogs.

I don't care that much either. Might put baseball on a few times a year. This is kind of an historic one though. Plus, a big game on makes me feel less guilty about a couple of drinks on a Wednesday night!

Epic game (for baseball). Feel for the fans. Teams have waited 70-100 years and now they have a rain delay after 9 innings.
