Also, my understanding is that this thread is meant to be for non-North football (AFL) thread, rather than a non-North any other sport thread. Mods, is it possible to have something like this for those who do wish to discuss other sports? I don't think we need a separate one as for the cricket (though I greatly appreciate that one being separate), for every other sport, but keeping this one just for AFL discussion would be appreciated.

Now, now DC. My apologies for being assertive and making a request. I get this seems 'precious' in some ways, but at the end of the day if my request is unreasonable I'm happy to accept a resounding 'no'. I did ask, however, on the assumption that this thread was for AFL related discussion, as part of an AFL club board. Given that's why I come here, and given the name, and what I thought was the purpose of the thread, I thought my request was fair.

The difference between threads that invariably meander into other subjects is that it is mostly random and/or short-lived, whereas this thread seems to have been regularly used for non-AFL sports discussion. Perhaps the word 'football' has been used in its broadest sense and that was always the intention and I've misunderstood?

All a year older, have missed a season and have the guys coming back any improvement in them ?

I'd rather not. We'd be subject to 6 months of hearing from dogs supporters about how overrated he is but that he might be handy as the 15th-25th player in our squad. Hell the more audacious ones might even throw in a "he'd walk straight into your best 22".
