I'll preface it by stressing that the info came from a friend of a friend ... but word is the Gold Coast were fairly convinced that he was completely shot physically, and were holding on to him for basically the idea of "what if he came good?"What's the deal with JOM's bone stress thingy? My brother in law was just telling me about it over drinks (he's a medical type and a ******) and it sounded dire. Came home saw bits on telly and its all 'nothing to see here... managing new injury' stuff.
Can't tell if the Hawks are drawing a blanket over a disaster or what. To be fair, I guess they have to damp down discussion as best as possible to shield the player.
Even though its the Hawks etc. I hate hearing about players with really bad injury battles. I really felt for Jong on the weekend, he was putting together a decent year too, or getting there anyway. And Trengove's issue is one of the saddest things in footy of recent times. So tough when you see some young guy who is really gifted and probably feels invincible have something like this happen.
What a bummer. I've no love for the Hawks, but feel for the kid. One of the risks of elite level sports I guess - you can confront your mortality earlier than most. I had to get older before all my bones start to creak and my knee click as I walk up stairs, though actually its always done that. But it seems to be a bit cruel to be born to be a superstar ... almost... I rather suspect Jaeger's prospects aren't too great.I'll preface it by stressing that the info came from a friend of a friend ... but word is the Gold Coast were fairly convinced that he was completely shot physically, and were holding on to him for basically the idea of "what if he came good?"
It's a real shame for a guy that is an absolute superstar if he's fit, but Hawthorn payed a motza for a player who was realistically worth a qrt of what was paid for him if you don't have the arrogance of thinking you can fix anyone - million dollar man style.
Yep, Sciatica ... good luck with that ... it's rubbish. I've had neural pain from back down to calf for years, it's not pleasant. What a bummer. I've no love for the Hawks, but feel for the kid. Speaking of injuries, I was overtired today from sleeping badly and then lolling around on bad office furniture with shitty "I don't want to be here" posture, and when I got up to go home I got that thing that I've heard described but I've never had myself. I forget. What's that nerve thing in lower spine (arse basically) where you get this pain thingy that shoots all down your leg and into the floor? Sciatic nerve or something I think? MY GOD IT HURTS. It still hurts now in fact but I've taken some drugs so improved a bit but OW! I would make a horrible athlete. I don't like pain. I resent it.

Not specifically on Jaeger, but I've read up a bit on what Hawthorn are claiming and they're saying the primary is an overuse injury. Now...given it's triggering off two games of footy, I don't know how he manages anything resembling a normal career.I'll preface it by stressing that the info came from a friend of a friend ... but word is the Gold Coast were fairly convinced that he was completely shot physically, and were holding on to him for basically the idea of "what if he came good?"

I never saw him live. Someone was talking about it recently though. Striker maybe? Freakish talent. I guess there's lots of sad stuff to go around everyone, but it's like watching a racehorse go down when you see it happen to a really talented athlete.Yep, Sciatica ... good luck with that ... it's rubbish. Back to Jaeger, I saw him first hand from his first year before he was able to play in the AFL, you could see then how good he was going to be, but thats footy, sadly.
Worst one I have seen was the Nathan Brown one, you could hear that from the stand.I never saw him live. Someone was talking about it recently though. Striker maybe? Freakish talent. I kind of wish I hadn't watched the Gold Coast match - that Barlow break was challenging viewing. I think the footage from the Strauss injury will haunt me ever since that day too. Ugh. Jeff Garlett was somehow in the picture I think. Would have heard the noise too. Horrible.
Yeah that's more or less what my brother in law was saying - overuse injury in an area uncommon for such issues, but almost certainly related to the previous issue and unlikely to be other than always a problem. I don't think the wrap him in cotton wool and launch him on the startled world fairly tale is likely to transpire. If there is a structural problem, then use will keep flaring up the stress issues. Bummer for the player really. Not specifically on Jaeger, but I've read up a bit on what Hawthorn are claiming and they're saying the primary is an overuse injury. Yeah, that's probably the biggest issue. And its important to note that his last few years at the Suns when he didn't play a game in the AFL, he still came back through the NEAFL for a couple of games before having issues again. This isn't a new thing for him, and while it's sad for such a talented kid, it's also a catastrophe for Hawthorn given what they paid for him.Not specifically on Jaeger, but I've read up a bit on what Hawthorn are claiming and they're saying the primary is an overuse injury. I was on field for O'Meara's actual injury, the scream was chilling, and the atmosphere on the ground just plummeted when everyone realised who it was, and the fact he was there coming back from his previous injury.Worst one I have seen was the Nathan Brown one, you could hear that from the stand.
It was worse than that. Ripping game of footy, still mid-2000s Melbourne with much of the old guard. Friday night. Brown was very much in Brownlow calculations - he ended up having 7 votes to that point, which was huge considering Cousins won it that year with only 20 votes. And he was second in the Coleman that night. My old man said the same thing, that's gotta be chilling
On the ground eh, in what capacity?I was on field for O'Meara's actual injury, the scream was chilling, and the atmosphere on the ground just plummeted when everyone realised who it was, and the fact he was there coming back from his previous injury.
I have also seen a compound fracture tho, that wins the most gruesome hands down!
Streaker .. the timing was unfortunateOn the ground eh, in what capacity?

well we were in the process of pulling the tigers apart that game. I heard it and we were sitting next to coach's box . As an aside back then if Richo was up on the wing or down in defence you just knew the tigers were gone in the match...aside from Brown was a good nite for the "D's"Worst one I have seen was the Nathan Brown one, you could hear that from the stand.
Yes Dad somehow got excellent tickets to that game, which were in the second tier right above where that happened. Couldn't have been in a better spot :|Worst one I have seen was the Nathan Brown one, you could hear that from the stand.
Was at home watching on TV and can still remember Eddie McGuire was on commentary at the time. He was getting more and more irritated that the guys in the production booth kept showing the vision and eventually snapped (no pun intended) and demanded they stop showing it.Worst one I have seen was the Nathan Brown one, you could hear that from the stand.
In my case the only thing that made it come good was exercise, particularly core stuff. Sorry about that. What a bummer. I've no love for the Hawks, but feel for the kid. They won't though.
You can't talk about it on the MB on BF because it's the home of North's online fans (they don't have a Demonland equivalent unlike every other Melbourne club) but there's a real issue with North that has been around despite the 2 flags in the 90s and multiple years of prelims since.
They. Just. Don't. Have. Fans.
Last year. 9-0. North on top of the ladder. Off the back of a preliminary final.
Average attendance of 30,539 - almost 700 people less than Melbourne, despite their record. And that's with 45,000 members (Melbourne didn't crack 40k). Admittedly they have 3 games in Hobart, but Melbourne also plays 2 games in the NT which evens it out fairly well.
This isn't a new problem. The only time North out-crowded Melbourne in recent years was 2013. And it's probably not going to happen this year either.
They're stagnant. At least with Melbourne you can argue that there's something of a latent supporter base because of the 10 years of disaster. With North there's just...nothing.
We are in the midst of arguably the best season ever, and they wanna try and pull this shit. Leave the ****ing game alone.AFLX sounds like poo
The idea that the AFL finds this okay, but can leave state of origin dead (with no excuses now) is pretty ****ing grossWe are in the midst of arguably the best season ever, and they wanna try and pull this shit. Leave the ******* game alone.
