No, you're really not. Please go back and check the history under this finals system. Please, for the sake on sanity. To win the flag you have to win 3 games in a row against the best teams in the competition, the equation for us to win the flag is still the same as it was this time last week, but the pre finals bye has essentially fixed something that wasn't broken, so you're better off losing the qualifying final.
You may be the greatest team of all Geelong, shame your fans cannot be just as classy.
So OP, you are alleging Geelong tanked friday night so they would get the chance to play the toughest team in the league. or did they do it because they expected Essendon to win?![]()

I have no doubt that Geelong and GWS strategically lost their qualifying finals this year

So full of shit. I've seen plenty of teams win not only finals, but grand finals after having a bye, final, bye and then grand final and win the bloody premiership. Some went further than 1 game in 26 days when they arrived at the G for grand final day.no one can win a final after playing only 1 game of footy in 26 days.
There is a reason they moved it in the first place. No one liked it then. Nothing will have changed. Doing it this way at least keeps the supporters of 10 teams happy, and it gives the players of teams in the finals a rest before the most important month in footy. Makes sense, and now they can use rubbish footy related filler on that weekend, like Womens origin.Have a split round during the season similar to the one they had in 2014..
We need a bigger sample size before drawing any conclusions.Do you think it's just a coincidence that both qualifying final winners happened to lose their preliminary finals last year, in the first season which happened to have the pre finals bye in place?

Get a reality check.

Is this the week Geelong fans that cannot handle their shit finals record of recent times break all types of sooking records in various types of ways ?
How come the bye last year had the opposite effect on Geelong and GWS? Geelong were spanked early, whilst GWS were overun late?
That you are clueless of what your talking about. How on Earth does that prove anything?
Like I said you have to win 3 games in a row against the best teams in the competition in order to win the flag so I've never said anything about our opposition, as it's irrelevant.
The record of qualifying final winners under the current finals system prior to the bye being brought in was 24-4 and I already outlined that in the OP.

You're the one that thinks footy from the 80s is somehow comparable to footy today.
