Will the AFL get rid of the pre finals bye after this year?

I still don't like it - mostly because it just stops the season for a week for no good reason.

Yeah I hate it for this reason too. But as far as 'is the bye a disadvantage', no way, Adelaide looked so fresh in their game.

Can never be an outlier now, both Richmond and Adelaide proved it can be done.

The bye is fine.

I just think the AFL needs to have something on during the bye - perhaps they could hold the Brownlow Medal on the eve of the finals (say the Saturday night) instead of on the Monday of the eve of the GF. I'm sure it would be less of a distraction at the end of the home & away than pre GF to the winner, if playing in the GF, eg Martin should he win it?

Yeah, that's more accurate.

If the next, say, ten years result in teams from the SF beating the teams who had the week off, then 2017 would be an outlier. (won't happen obviously).
