The information regarding Brad from the AFC has been upfront and accurate.

At the start of the pre-season it was stated that Brad would have a modified program due to groin issues he suffered in 2017. This was not obvious because he played 19 of the last 20 games last year and was one of our best performers in the finals. After his set back it was mentioned that the situation was similar to The SEED and after a lot of frustration (The SEED contemplated retirement last year), The SEED now seems to have resolved the problem (fingers crossed) without surgery.

The story from the club has always been that we expect to resolve the problem in the near future but the underlying message was we “hope” to solve the problem but we don’t know how long it will take. Collingwood eventually gave up on The SEED and trade him for a packet of peanuts.

It is the same story with Sloane. The initial diagnosis was that he had a minor foot strain and he/we chose to play through the pain. With the benefit of hindsight, not a good decision. He and the club were confident that he would play the showdown until he injured the foot again in an innocuous handball drill. He is now in a similar position to Brad. We have not put a timeframe on when he will return, we have said we will let it settle down and re-assess the situation in two weeks. Reading betwen the lines, the best hope scenario will be a return to the AFL in 6-8 weeks IMHO.

wrong.

For how long?
It depends on the type of injury and where it is. Also depends on whether resting is actually improving the outcome. Regarding Brad, he's been rested many times with good recovery in the past few years, why then should we jump to surgery in the preseason with Brad?

ACL
(I wonder if rest, medicines were considered first with Smiths injury)

This can be summed up in two words. Ryan Tannehill.

The Dolphins Quarterback injured his ACL before the end of the season, and the idiots in charge decided to try and heal it with rest. Then during training next season he ruptures it properly and requires surgery. Multi million dollar Sports franchises run by people with at least one working brain cell don't take those sort of risks: unfortunately fans of the Miami Dolphins are still hoping for someone with a clue to take the rudder of that aimless ship...:(

Which part?
The AFC stated stated Brad was on a modified pre-season and this was obvious for those that took advantage of the few open training sessions. I heard both the Pyke interview and the subsequent Brad interview. It is possible that our coach was lying just for the spit and giggles or he could have been relaying what he was told by the medicos. Brad is a pretty black and white type of guy, his description that he had OP may have been his interpretation of the information provided to him by the medicos. If he had fully blown OP w e would not have been expecting/hoping that he would play round one. He was looking pretty good at training until he had the abdominal strain and when he returned to training he was back at square one.

As frustrating as “hamstring awareness” is to some supporters,
several of the players with H.A. were playing well before the standard 4week period (Tex, Eddie, Murphy). If Hartigan, Milera or Knight play this week then they clearly didn’t significantly tear a hammy. Kyle Cheney has had ongoing hammy problems for a couple of years. Matt Crouch had the standard three games off. The really annoying ones have been Gibson (must have re-injured his hammy in an attempt to get back) and Alex Keath who gave his ankle one hell of a tweak.

Should have traded him end of 2016 instead of overpaying him for another 4 years. It was clear then, and it's even clearer now - could have gotten a first round pick off of Hawthorn for him then, he's not worth anything at all now.

Chances of retaining Matt with his brother in Victoria? 0.0

This post is the only thing that reassures me everything will be alright in the end

He's not that special, and any professional athlete soft enough to leave because their sibling was cut or traded isn't worth the time anyway.

This club lacks the ruthlessness necessary to win, and it applies to the repeated, sunk cost tainted decision making over Brad Crouch - even if you don't believe the repeated rumours about his lack of professionalism - as much as it applies to the likes of Mackay, Atkins, and anyone else people would care to mention.

He's now in his 6th season, having played just 61 career games, is not projected to add to that tally this season, and hasn't played a game that matches his salary or internal rating since 2014 against Hawthorn, or if you want to be super generous a 130 point thrashing of a hapless Brisbane in 2016. At the end of 2016 we had an opportunity to sell him, and a buyer willing to pay a first round pick for damaged goods - we made the wrong decision.

Shoosh. That won’t make the naysayers happy. Doesn’t fit into their “they’re all incompetent” melts.

This thread has just given u licence to once again bag a crouch. For whatever reason you s**t on them at any opportunity but u do a Marty and go awol when your opinions are embarrassingly shot down - M Crouch 2017 AA.
Therefore your opinion on either of them is flawed and pointless.
But please continue for entertainment value at least.
It’s not ideal current situation with Brad. But he has always has been the more talented of the 2. He will come good and will be great to watch. Not just for AFC value...but to once again see pie on your face.

Good to see NT Rabbit back. He's been noticibly absent on the board since his call on Matt Crouch turned out to be extraordinarily wrong. It's good to see someone already proven to be a historic levels of incorrect come back and flap their gums again.

Lots of chutzpah to come and throw opinions around again, considering how he had to slink away with his tail between his legs after being so incredibly wrong about Matt Crouch.
