1) Do we win against West Coast with Jenkins?
2) I'm ok with us sacrificing this season to look at the future ...
1) really, we'll never know.
People who whinged about EH's game and have been singing "We-should-have-picked-JJ" have the benefit of hindsight. Any number of things might've happened eg they select JJ and he breaks a leg (extreme example, I know). The best thing to do now is ask whether EH should play vs Melbourne, and do they bring in JJ to replace him? We'll find out tomorrow.
2) I've been thinking about that, a lot.
Maybe Pyke looked at our 1-3 start, especially the horrible loss to NM, the form of Walker/Betts and a few others, and decided then:
--- to put his foot down and say "We are going to play like THIS!" (tight defence)
--- that JJ is out until he puts team first and plays to his height/size/ability.
--- Top 4 will be hard if not impossible, so time to rotate new players through the mix without bottoming out (after all, we're a fair chance to get Pick #1, thanks Carlton! ;) :D <== the subject of much mirth on The Front Bar).

Maybe, just maybe, your comment highlighted above is all ready in action ...?

I wouldn't trade ROB either. If we pickup another ruck I would retire Sauce and most likely delist Hunter. ROB needs to stay on the list as backup. He has proven he can hold his own.
Agree, ROB's got to stay.
Throw megabucks @ Grundy, Franklin-style (won't happen, I know, Adelaide never do that), retire Sauce, trade Hunter, keep ROB with EH as depth.

The bookies have us as underdogs against GWS and 50:50 v Tigers. I think that will change and we will be underdogs v the Tigers as well.

50/50 v Tigers? Geez I wish

Tough games coming up. Opportunities to put a blowtorch under some players and to give others a try

When I saw the draw, I was always worried about this 6 game sequence of ours.

Lions, Eagles, Dees, GWS, Tigers, Cats.

The bookends of this will be a loss. We have already lost to the Eagles.

The importance of beating Dees cannot be underestimated in the context of our Finals aspirations. I dont want us needing to beat the Dogs in Ballarat in R23.

No one will ever know if Jenkins would have been the difference. Who knows? He may have kicked 5 and we won by 3 goals or he may have done the same effort as Himmelberg and Walker.
Exactly this!
If we could get Luko end of this year or next I would trade Jenkins this year. This is the year to move him to extract best value.
:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
Oh, pleasepleasePLEASE. JJ out, Lukosius in, great move.

:D
Toe.
Toe-toe-toe, toe-toe-toe, toe-toe (repeat)
This hit, that ice cold
Michelle Pfeiffer, that white gold ...

(or did you mean "D'oh"? ... Dough? ;) ... I gotta stop with the late-arvo triple-shot espressos :drunk:, which are giving me Word-Association-Disease)

Very real chance of 1 out of 6 there
Time for Tex and others to pull their finger out

I don't buy the argument that Himmelberg didn't deserve to be playing last week

He had one bad game. Dropping young players after a single bad game is poor selection.

Meanwhile Jenkins has been banging the door down with a whopping 1 good game in a row from 5 attempts.

The player who's been better on average is clearly Himmelberg

Oh I hear you
I kept re thinking my judgement too
I’m not going to waiver
I will never agree to Jenkins or Gibbs selection until proven consistently
Sure there are others - look here
Both need to shut up and perform on the field

Which makes it strange we didn't bring Fog in for an injured Lynch.
I would have prefered that, but the end of the day I would have gone Seedsman over Fog.
Yea Fogarty would have been a late in for Lynch in my team
With Walker playing High. swapping thru out the game.
Maybe this week.
But I would have had Seedsman in for another Player,
This week will be interesting Pyke backed a few Players in and some of them did not Preform.

Problem is Himmelberg has not been better, he leaking goals when in the ruck, And he takes less contested marks than JJ, and the last 3 games his direct opponent run off him all day to double team Walker, or take the intercept mark.
But the biggest issue we have is He does not Kick Goals even in the SANFL he struggles to kick a bag full of goals.
We need Forward who will Kick Goals.
And the Cupboard is Bare in regards to Forward Rucks, Unless we start looking at ROB and Jacobs or ROB and Hunter etc.
JJ has a history when in Form of Kicking Goals and forcing his opponent to pay more respect.

Only if McAdam has a pie-free pre-Season :p and improves his tank and attitude.
Huh?

Attitude?

Unless you know something his former coach at Sturt and now Crows Assistant Coach Marty Mattner is totally unaware of Shane McAdam's attitude right from when he shifted to SA to have a red hot crack at getting on an AFL list has been nothing short of impeccable right from suiting up in the ammos for Scotch Old Collegians to SANFL for Sturt to the Crows according to Marty.

Does this sound like a lad with "attitude" problems? Marty Mattner!

Before taking the flight to Melbourne to bring McAdam to Adelaide, Radbone asked his would-be new boarder to answer from three choices why he wanted to play football — fun, money or to get drafted.
“I thought he was going to say money — and he wasn’t coming to Adelaide to do that,” said Radbone, a 1989 AFL draftee (pick No. 46) to Essendon.
McAdam answered he wanted to be drafted. At 88kg (eight more than his current playing weight) — and after more than 18 months off the football map — that goal was going to take some work.
“It meant one full year in the amateurs (with Scotch),” said Radbone.
And working two jobs — one at Cheap As Chips, the other packing boxes and stacking pallets at a warehouse managed by former Port Adelaide SANFL defender Tony Giles — while advancing an electrical apprenticeship.
Halfway through the 2017 Adelaide Footy League season, South Adelaide coach Garry Hocking offered him the chance to join the SANFL Panthers.
Radbone had McAdam stay the course. He used his connections at Sturt to open the door at Unley for McAdam … but only to a trial with 59 other candidates, all chasing four spots on the Double Blues’ list. “Understandable … Shane had been off the radar for more than a year.”
“They were dubious,” said Radbone, who played 77 league games with Sturt.
McAdam finished 2018 heavily chased by four AFL clubs — Gold Coast and Carlton with the special assistance option outside the draft; Adelaide and Collingwood, with Magpies coach Nathan Buckley making a video presentation to McAdam.
He joins the Crows with list manager Justin Reid marking him a top-20 draft prospect had Adelaide not taken the opportunity to grab him, via the Mitch McGovern trade to Carlton.

I have more issue with the size of posts.

Concise is a good thing...

If a really long post, I skip it.

Can't say I'm disappointed. The Dees will be emotionally pumped already after the death of ex-captain Green's wife. We could do without the double whammy of that and Lever's return, against his old club no less.

It's announced that Melbourne are dedicating the game to Anna Green. I feel bad for Green and his/her family and friends...but yeah now we're going to come up against an emotionally charged team.
