We smash Ess last week then they bounce back and beat a team around us on the ladder.

Hoping we can beat Hawthorn then they bounce back and beat Collingwood next week on a Friday night.

I lost track of the stat after this point, but as of Round 17 last year, Collingwood and Melbourne had a combined 21 wins. Only one of those 21 was against a side in the eight, which was when Collingwood beat Melbourne.

I still think 2019 Collingwood are more the real deal than not, they’ve just tried to shift away from their 2018 style of footy after having some early success with the short kicking game. I think they will more than likely rediscover their best by finals.

However, the potential for a big slide from those sides compared to last year was as clear as day.

Pies will steady - we had a rough patch and so did GWS. Geelong aren't going that well at the moment either but their soft draw and home games will paper over cracks.

This season still comes down to home finals and who is in good form in September. Simmo has primed us well to peak at the right time.
