I disagree. I think we're a chance to finish bottom 2. Even if our pick gets downgraded due to fs and academy bids we still have access to the equivalent live pick. E.g. if pick 4 ends up being 10 we still get access to the 4th best player available given that we don't have access to the other players anyway
We will not finish bottom 2 lol.

Does anybody (Macca19 ?) have any idea of the population of each recruiting zone? I would hope that the AFL scale them such that no one team has access to a significantly larger population as part of its zone, but the more I think about it the more sure I become that it's not actually the case.

give how much its middle class and up kids being drafted these days, per capita income is probably valuable too

Think that could do more with talented juniors getting scholarships to private schools rather than the system picking higher class kids a priori. There's still a reasonable amount of kids from lower class backgrounds getting drafted.

But yeah, would be an interesting study.

Vic teams were given access to metro aboriginals in Melbourne and WA and SA teams not access to metro Perth and metro Adelaide because of a numbers game and numbers of aboriginal males under 19 in those states. I put up ABS stats for 0-4, 5-9, 10-14, 15-19 age groups per state in the NGA thread.

But some of them get top up numbers with country NT zones. GC now have Darwin as metro zone for all kids.

Multicultural kids per zone, the AFL dont give a shit.

AS CLUBS start to finalise their orders ahead of next month's NAB AFL Draft, so are we.

This is the second-last update of the Phantom Form Guide for 2019 – our rankings of the best 30 players in the 2019 draft pool.

It comes after the completion of this month's Draft Combine, which was the prospects' final chance at impressing clubs before names are called on November 27-28.

A reminder that this is our view of the best players and doesn't take into account where bids for father-son and Academy players may come, or which clubs have which selections.

What would be more interesting is what the clubs claiming the benefit have put into their zone NOT what they get out of it.

if the chips feel this way would people be against a McAsy and Worrell tall double?

On a needs basis this is what we should be doing. Id feel more confident with a small though

Given WA won the U18 carnival is there a over emphasis on Vic players in this assessment?

The whole industry is Vic-centric year on year. "Poor draft year" usually means Vic Metro is shit and Vic Country not much better.

Champs shows how well certain groups perform as a team but it doesnt mean all those players are draftable, or should be up the top end.

For instance, there is a noticable trend year on year that SA is smaller right across the board. They have shorter midfielders and shorter talls. Its veyr rare for sub 175cm midfielders to get drafted, let alone be right up the top end, even though they might have performed well at the Champs.

I look at someone like Mitch Crowden for example. Had a great year in his draft year, was picking up high 30's disposals at under 18's and reserves level, played senior footy, had a great champs. But at 173cm, was never going to go high, even though he was one of the form players of the season.

That's just the way it is.

Is it a shit draft whenever Vic Metro doesn't win the U18s?

2015 was a good year and Vic Country won

2018 was a stunning draft year and SA won

For all the boasting by the SANFL, Dylan Stephens is actually a Victorian and only moved over here because of a "scholarship" offered by St Peters. If you ask him he calls himself a Victorian.

The SA Government should be giving extra credence to tall immigrants. Long term planning!

reckon the reason is that it takes better development to get growing talls up to speed pre-draft, which is why Lukosius as a tall non-manchild is such a rarity for SA

Can any draft nuts who follow this religiously please take a crack at who we might draft with our first 3 selections?

Are we any chance of landing McAsey, Bergman, & Stephens?
