This season doesn’t count, but yeah, we should get the #1 draft pick’ says Crows flog

DAN SCHMIDT
A casual Adelaide Crows fan and therefore an AFL expert on twitter has voiced his opinion online about the 2020 season and the 2021 AFL draft.
With the South Australian AFL sides sitting at polar opposites of the ladder, Twitter user @The119thMan proclaimed to his 32 followers this week that this season doesn’t count, because of the altered schedule and game times, so if Port Adelaide Football Club (est. 1996) win the Premiership, it definitely doesn’t count.
However, due to the Crows’ dismal performance this year, @The119thMan still believes the Crows are entitled to the #1 draft pick, which they will most likely use to pick up a homesick Victorian prospect.

“Did you know that the Crows could technically snag three of the top six draft picks? This is great for us, because deliberately finishing bottom in a season that doesn’t count gives us a good chance to rebuild” tweeted @The119thMan.
Despite no likes, retweets or replies on his tweets, he then continued to tweet to nobody particular, “And for all you Power ferals saying this is your year, you know deep down that it’s not real. Who knows how well the Crows would have done if it was an actual season with full length quarters?” along with a GIF that made about as much sense as his argument.
“Can’t wait to see all these Power fans shook when we pick up the great draft picks we’ve earnt, they’ll join some of our more senior members, some of whom I can definitely name without looking at Google. #gocrows” concluded the flog.

Editor’s note: We completely agree with the above statements. Best of luck striving for the 2020 AFL Premiership*, Port.
Isn't "deliberately finishing bottom" tanking, and therefore punishable by having draft picks removed?

Pick 2 for Brad Crouch is one of those things that feels like it started as a fairly funny joke but now has enough people saying it that the soft morons in charge will actually do.
Yep. The AFL are already working on the formula to make it happen. 5AA all over it with Bickley last night stating it was an absolute given they should get pick 2 for him as won a B&F and was pick 2 when he was drafted.

Lets trade Watts for pick 1.

To the Crows.

Its time to umpire by drone.
1. One or 2 drones
2. 3 adjudicators isolated fron each other in the stands monitoring via drone
3. Three big red buttons; one for each adjudicator
4. A potential free arises: adjudicator presses big red button.
5. 3/3 big red lights activated on the scoreboard = free given
6. 2/3 big red lights activated on scoreboard = free given
7. 1/3 big red lights activated on scoreboard = no free given
8. Play stops when free is given by activating a siren on drone
9. Field umpire in earpiece contact with chief adjudicator awards free.
10. The end of Razor Ray's omnipotence

Obviously complications to be worked out.
May need 2 big buttons per adjudicator - one for each team.
this has potential but the red lights are impractical. Replace the red lights with a taser like zapping system (could be built into players' guernseys). Two or three out of the three adjudicators hit the button and everyone is zapped leaving them very briefly incapacitated and twitching on the ground. They then recover, free kick is taken and play resumes.
I think you would see the number of frees awarded significantly reduced as the players are incentivised to not give away frees.

I think it has possibilities

Shit wonder what we can get for Watts then

By the end of round 12 we will have played 4 games at Adelaide Oval, the crows will have played 6.

As I said in the fixture thread, we will have played 8 games outside of our home state, compared to Adelaide and Freo's 6 and West Coast's 5.

Another way to make the game better is to loosen up on physical contact. There's a fair distance between Barry Hall or Andrew Gaff king hits, and that time Kane Cornes got two games for running in to Sam Mitchell.

People like seeing contact. They like seeing blues and two people who understand what's about to happen squaring up to each other. It also makes all loose players and intercept markets think twice if the know a big forward is charging at them unafraid of conceding a free or worse.

It's not about the gameplay though, its the future legal issues.

NORTH Melbourne has addressed its injury crisis but football boss Brady Rawlings stopped short on Friday of announcing the Kangaroos would undergo a review of the situation.

They have lost a competition-most 73 games to injury overall this season, including 51 from players considered to be in the club's best 22, and could record a sixth straight loss this weekend.

Riewolt- GC earnt their prime time slot. (8th on ladder)

Meanwhile Port Adelaide. Here have a Sunday.
It's a fair call. GC has never played on Friday night and that was their first Thursday night game.

GWS got their first Friday night games in 2017 after they made they made the 2016 PF.
