News Brad Crouch to Saints (STK make offer; Band 3, ADL to match?)

??? Never heard anyone say this before about a Crouch.

There is a lot to like about Brad but he is not a good user, especially by foot. We used to complain about Dangers kicking but Brad is next level poor by foot. This is why he will never be A grader.

I think he's short kicking is ok and his kicking for goal is pretty good.

I think opinion is clouded a little because most of the time we see him kicking long out of the centre.

To put it into perspective, i think MRouch, Laird and Sloane are all as terrible kicking long out of the centre and couldn't kick long to advantage if their lives depended on it.

This to me shows our biggest issue as a midfield group

Yes they do. Only change now is the plan to allow Victorians coming in self isolate at home, instead of hotel quarantine. Not sure if that's come into effect yet though.

Surely when someone says that they're a good user, they're not talking objectively for a football player and more in relation to the position they're playing?

I'd say for an inside mid Brads a decent user of the ball.

Sure he's not going to be as good as an outside mid or a half back flanker, but that's not really a fair comparison.

You might, I might but for the average supporter the just look at DE% and KE% regardless of the role the player plays in the team.

I think the problem is he doesn't actually kick it long out the middle he usually dribbes it forward on whatever angle is quickest to dispose of it. If he was actually kicking it 50 metres forward most times our forwards would be making something of it.

He usually doesn't hang onto it for an extra second to free up a runner. He is not alone here (Laird/Sloane) but that's a big part of why our midfield clearances are so bad.

Whereas his brother Matt (when in form) is much better at releasing outside players or finding a short target.

Every other club pay overs ($$ wise) for FA as you don't have to give up players/picks.

Except when you deal with Adelaide, other clubs can offer a lower contract ($$ wise) because they know the AFC are spineless, all you need to say is "we won't trade" or "we have already committed our other picks for a different player, sorry" and the AFC believes it.

Staggering what we have become over the last 20 years.

If we had visibility into the contract that we believed was Band 1, and then it changed, we should absolutely call that out. If the AFL interfered then we should make that clear.

I don't think they had to though, I'm pretty sure we ****ed this all on our own.

I disagree. If we know what happened we should come straight out and declare it. Hold a full blown press conference. Outright accuse the AFL of corruption.
At some stage we need to grow up as a club
