AFLW Bulldogs to play home games away from VU Whitten Oval

The Western Bulldogs can confirm that redevelopment work at the VU Whitten Oval precinct in 2022 will prevent the Club’s AFLW team from hosting home games at the venue in Season 7.

Expected to be completed in September so Brisbane will host some home games there this season for sure

EXPANSION TEAMS
Sydney will play at Henson Park
Essendon could be playing at Rams Arena, the Hangar and some matches at Windy Hill
There is talk that Hawthorn will play at North Port Oval and Ikon Park
Port Adelaide will be playing at Alberton Oval

GROUND AVAILABILITY

• There will be no matches at the Whitten Oval in Season 7 due to redevelopment. The Bulldogs are likely to play some home games at Skinner Reserve, and take a game to Ballarat like they did last season.
• Brighton Homes Arena will be completed in September 2022 so Brisbane will take matches to the new venue this season
• The WACA could be available for matches early in the season for both Fremantle and West Coast
• Metricon Stadium is hosting T20 Internationals on 5th and 7th October. This most likely rules out hosting matches in Round 6 and 7. If the Suns are required to play a home game in this period, they may play matches at Southport or play their annual game in Mackay.
• GMHBA Stadium is hosting matches during the Men's T20 World Cup from 16th-20th October. Over most likely Round 7-9, the venue will be unavailable.
• The WBBL fixture is yet to be unveiled which may show some other dates where grounds are unavailable.

Question is Springfield oval available this or next season?

On the Roar deal few weeks ago they said buildings would be finished first club would be moving out there think it was August or September. Also said turf would be done last have to wait till turf is settled before playing on it. Looking at third week of October could be later.Clubs in talks to play few home games at Gabba before Cricket takes over.

WBBL TV schedule to be revamped thanks to AFLW

Cricket Australia is set to home in on Thursday night as its primary marquee free-to-air television slot for women’s cricket when the Women’s Big Bash League schedule is unveiled next week.

WBBL fixture released this week. Both AFLW and WBBL are set to clash. FTA marquee slots will be Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons to avoid clashing with the AFLW FTA slots also broadcast on Channel 7 on Friday and Saturdays.

Both AFLW and WBBL GF set for the same weekend that will clash with a Socceroos WC game 9pm Saturday night and Victorian election. Maybe both GFs will be on Sunday? Sunday afternoon AFLW GF leading into a WBBL night GF?
