The above article from today mentions that there’s actual footage of her at 7:16am running. I was under the impression that someone else came forward a few days after it happened and identified themselves as the runner in the video?

The article also states the cops think she made it to the forest. A few theories were she never made even made it that far.
Apologies if I’m behind on this, busy few days.

There may have been two women of very similar appearance caught on CCTV outside the boarding kennel that morning.

Rebecca Young the lady murdered by her bikie partner may actually fit this description. But again I think just coincidence...

I was only about 23.8% serious.

It's actually not that strange that crims stuff a job up with a mistaken identity. Jane Thurgood Dove was a well known case and only recently two bikies assassinated the wrong person on a Melbourne freeway.

While the police were scratching their heads and similarly saying it was so baffling, they couldn't find a motive, no known criminal connections etc, some of us in here were saying 'Maybe they killed the wrong man.'

A bit about the Community effort on Saturday including Jake Cassar coming from NSW and providing tips to locals about searches as well as his expertise.

Also new detectives bought in.

"Police say they have added the highly experienced detectives "from a number of units across Crime Command and Counter Terrorism Command".

"Those highly skilled detectives have been selected for their experience in complex and protracted investigations," a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

"They have not been selected due to the crime theme they currently work..."
"We have not taken Counter Terrorism detectives because we think her disappearance is terrorism related."

Counter Terrorism Command have specialist skills in analysis, intelligence, and community violence, among other things.

This might suggest police are pursuing a theory that Samantha's disappearance is the result of some organised activity, and not a random attack. I guess there's some sort of possibility of mistaken identity and relation to the bikie incident, but seems unlikely that a husband would mistake his wife, and why suicide?

I assume counter terrorism skills would include detecting and analysing online activity.

I think the theory of mistaken identity is a valid one.

I don’t believe the bikie mistook his own wife but if there is a group of bikies there it’s possible a different bikie intended to kill the wife and/or her bikie husband.

The bikie husband realises they are going to be offed and does it himself.

Personally I don’t think they are linked. I think the bikie and wife murder suicide is just your regular old domestic violence.

Can’t have a bunch of local mums on Facebook show the police up 🤣

Ballarat has two seasons Daylight Savings (hot) and Standard time (******* cold)

I used to go up there every 3 months for work. I hate the cold (being west Aussie born) but I preferred the cold than the intense dry oppressive heat of Ballarat.

It’s a great town though. Very charming. Got that country vibe but all the conveniences of the city.

Is the 'murder/suicide' proven beyond reasonable doubt? I assume it is, since the children were present.

Was it a domestic? Or drug-related? Or something else? It seems a spur-of-the-moment thing, rather than anything planned.

If the two incidents are unrelated, then where would Samantha's investigation be going?

Apologies for my morbid fascination.

There were two scenarios suggested, one is that it was a case of mistaken identity. Not that Rebecca's husband mistook Samantha for his wife.

And two, that Samantha may have seen something in the forest. Possible criminal activity an example being, a bikie going to their stash in the forest burying or taking something out.

i felt there were a lot of conflicting Statements in this article.

IMO, the 7.16am running footage was ruled out ( I think that was reaffirmed by the police woman in the initial presser where Sam’s husband & daughter appealed for help )
However, I do believe they must have other unreleased footage of her because they say they know she left the property.

I thought she told friends at dinner the night before that she was going for a 12 km run the next morning. I think the plan was to be back home around 9 am to get ready to go to the Brunch. It was when she didn’t arrive home that Mick tried to contact her, started checking with friends etc. before eventually calling Police. It’s been stated that police were notified at 1pm, after she didn’t turn up for the Brunch However ( as per the same press conference I referenced above) the police woman said they were notified in the morning.

all just my opinion.
