Playing Dear in those conditions first game back was always bizarre to me, might’ve been the difference in the end.
Should’ve just run it back with Gunston - he’s been in amazing form.. could’ve rested him later on in the year once Dear had more time to get going…

Disappointing - couple of missed opportunities and once again giving a side a head start

Harry the scapegoat was immense
Wiz showed why he went top 3
Boys gave it a good shot but fell short

Media will now spin that hawks unable to beat a top side and the goals from frees will be highlighted again

Good sign that we fought it out.
Umps no excuse
Arsey goals no excuse
Weather no excuse
Not good enough for long enough
We are carrying some players that need to lift, get better or be replaced.
Focus on back to winning next week

Ned Reeves, please never play for Hawthorn ever again.
Didn't think Reeves was that bad. Never felt it was Witts that was giving them the clearance dominance except for a short period in the 2nd. Just Rowell and Anderson outhunting our mids and then the lack of a sweeper

Still work to do on our center clearances. Can't win them all, but it was their dominance that put us 32 points down and our dominance that got us back into it.

Plenty of depth to cover sore players for next week, but we have a 9 day break, so shouldn't be a drama. Looking forward to playing Bris on our home deck.

French and Ward both stood up, they're comfortable at the level now.

Grumpy AF, but happy with where the club is at.

Thought Reeves was quite good. We win that if the suns don’t kick the luckiest goals I’ve ever seen

He went alright against Witts in the ruck contests, but Witts ran circles around him when the ball was in transition.

We just need to figure out what is going on in our clearance work - we've been getting spanked around the ground in clearances, and couldn't win centre square clearances tonight either tonight - which has usually been our get out.

Champion Data during the week said it was the one glaring weakness in our profile, being clearances and was again on show. It really hurts our ability to control a game, and gave the Suns so many easy goals out of the middle.

We need a fair rethink on our setup - even despite several outs. Worps was poor tonight, he really butchered it in patches - his form is really frustrating. Up and down a lot this season, whereas last season felt really consistent. Not the only passenger in the middle - but he's the most experienced, I expected better.

It wasnt, he got subbed out and Collins takes over the airways as a result because Sis had another shocker replacing Dear up forward. I said a quarter ago to not sub him off and we do and we than have issues bringing the ball to ground almost straight away. Sometimes a pre plan needs to be changed during the course of the game depending how the game is going. He was starting to have an impact and we sub him. Didn't agree with it sorry.

Threw everything at the Suns, just conceded goals at bad times.
Hope tonights game hasn’t cost us next weeks as well in those conditions.

Finals aren’t played in Darwin. We’ll be right there come prelim final weekend
