That's good.
I'm putting you on ignore until you get your shit together. "I don't wish to be contacted next year." The most floggy request I've heard in a long time. Club decisions might be made on numbers, not on turnips calling up, making w@nker requests.

Anyway, my request is that you kindly stop creating gameday threads, and leave it to the moderators, or at least to the St. Kilda supporters.
Again, for those people who don't know, the gameday threads are invisible to people who have you on ignore. So if you're a quitter, a sook, or a sniper - show some consideration and leave it to others.
Christ , you're almost as grumpy as him and i should know ;)

Maybe an extra day a week training on skills ?
Gotta love how we reward our players for playing like dog poop , Here boys ,take an extra day off FFS
We should be doing more work not less , what's the old saying , the more practice the better you get

I understand people's frustration at St Kilda's poor decisions and spending the last decade in no man's land

But calling the club the day after a disappointing loss? That's a bit like the toddler cracking the sads cos mum took the toys away and said "bed time"

As I said earlier in the thread, yesterday probably wasn't even the most disappointing result this season.

I know you’re excited about him. We all are.
But let’s not put the pressure of being the team messiah on his shoulders just yet.
He’s just a kid. Let him find his feet.
Im
Not I’m just saying if the players we need and a list whole.

A hat all interceptor or another KPF option. Oof all the holes in the list it hurts when we have one and the AFL/VFL cucks us again

Cannot fathom what loss is more disappointing than this?

Crows at AO - close to the hardest place to win this season, genuine flat track bullies
GWS at Norwood - odd game, their mids better but we weren't disgraced
Dogs at Marvel - maybe the best team in the comp at the moment, currently second in betting for the flag
Carlton at the G - hard fought, probably win that 1/4 times

Far from our worst but Nas has gone from being the most underrated 20 year old to the most over-hyped 22 year old.

I hope he signs on, desperately, but he is hitting about 50% of his potential on current output. We've shot ourselves in the foot in that we will be giving him one of the biggest AFL contracts to stay and its purely on potential given our dearth of talent.

Much like Sincs, Nas is an ok midfielder and a grade half back. I'm not convinced TDK will make one iota of difference to our side, but then again, we'd need half a dozen a graders to be a finals team.
I don't think tdk would have improved us yesterday. Marshall was massive. I'm starting to think the 1.7 might be better spent on a gun mid. Reid strikes me as a bit of a flog, but he would change us immediately.

This game is absolute evidence that TdK is not the answer. 1.7m is better spent almost anywhere else, we need to try and find the next Lloyd Meek type ruck who is a solid contributor week in week out and costs 1/3rd of what TdK will.

I don't think we are at the point of going after FAs just yet, but if we are they should be midfielders.

One of them would have given us extra height forward and as an outlet mark on the wing when the other rucks.

So which gun mid is available to us?

With respect, I think your analysis is a bit off the mark.

I couldn't give a rats what opposition fans think of say, Jimmy Webster. He's played almost 200 games for St Kilda. A hard working guy who gives consistent effort and plays a role.

Newnes absolutely made it at AFL level. Played 207 games.

McKenzie (calf), Mccartin and Longer (concussion) were unlucky. But it's AFL footy- a brutal game. It happens.

Guess we'll see in a few years. But I feel more optimistic about our current group than I did about that crew in 2017.

And that 2017 group was under utilised by poor club management (trading Acres for example).

In hindsight, if St Kilda had gone a different route in 2015 - 2020 we'd be in a much better position now.

Imagine we'd drafted Harry McKay or Charlie Curnow (taken at 10 and 12) instead of trading pick 6 for Carlisle in 2015.

Imagine in 2019 we kept Blake Acres and picked Kosi Pickett, Will Day, Miles Bergman, Cody Weightman, Mitch Georgiades or Sam De Koning (picked 12 - 19) instead of trading Acres and pick 10 for Brad Hill. (Freo traded the pick and used the points to get Liam Henry at 9. Tom Green was academy at 10th).

We could have Charlie Curnow, Kosi Pickett and Acres.

Instead we've got Brad Hill.

Over the next few years I'd like St Kilda to keep following this strategy (which, to be fair, they've done the last few years):

1. Keep first round picks. Just don't trade them. Ever.

2. Only trade draft picks for young guys (like Higgins. Membrey. Steele. Etc. Not Hill who was 26)
Agree with much of this but for balance Longer was well and truly in the spud category before concussion shortened his career. Admittedly McKenzie had shown some improvement but at best he was serviceable and for the most part mediocre before his dodgy calf finished him. Paddy did ok as a defender at the Swans but had shown little to justify the hype before concussion ended his career.

Agree re Jimmy and would have him every day of the week over Newnes. Newnes was the epitome of a bruise free footballer. Refused to tackle but was immune to any sort of scrutiny under Richo.

My decision to call the club was actually far more considered than you might imagine. I've been frustrated for a long time. Yesterday I'd decided I'd had enough.

Should I have mentioned it here?... I don't know... But I did... just to voice that that is where my frustration has lead me.

I do absolutely think people make far too many excuses for our failure to execute the basic skills of the game. It's been the same story for over a decade.

Have watched Trav closely. He will be a gun with a few preseasons and some time in the gym. He can find the ball, tackle, he's very quick and has endurance. My only unknown would be attitude and how he fits in with his team mates.
He's good at disposing of the ball when being tackled. He also burrows in.
Once he puts on some size, he's going to be a handful. I think we've got a good one with Trav.

So where would you spend it? Names

Longer would probably be on a list still, if he hadn't had concussion. Perhaps as a backup , but he would be on a list.
Newnes was a winger , but without the good disposal needed.

Stevens, Dempster , Longer, Paddy, even Pierce all had their careers shortened by Concussion.
Then there was Dylan Roberton with heart issues, I think he was only 27 when that happened.

I saw a team that lacked height and physical mass. While it's an extremely large contract, someone with TDK's size and attributes would make us better. We can't be turning away players who would make us better because some still put everything wrong down to midfielders.

Trav has looked good since his first game and I can’t fathom why his destiny is constantly sub then dropped. our selection around the fringes confuses the hell out of me.
I’ve changed my tune
I watched last week in vfl his early disposal scared me
I watched yesterday and saw a skinny kid with ultra slick hands who could at least hit a target under pressure
Get off his back….all of you…😉

The club has dished up 14 straight years of drivel. I don't see holding off financial contributions until they get it together as particularly outlandish. I also don't see that calling them up and (politely) telling them that's the case as over the top.
I emailed them a few years back after the Adelaide loss and told them to take me off the automatic easy pay option. They’ll get my money when I decide to renew, not automatically.

Petulant? Maybe. But they clearly have metrics they want to hit by certain dates as far as the membership is concerned, so instead of automatically rolling over in October, they might have to wait until late December or early January now.

Literally any player that isn't a ruck.
Ok but who though? We don't exactly have players lining up out the door to play with us. If Harley Reid was any chance to come here then we'd all drag him to Moorabbin for any price ourselves but he isn't. TDK is a quality tall and has been identified by the recruiting team as gettable.

The reaction after this game is laughable and pathetic.
The reaction isn't just to THIS game. It's a reaction to what has been a 15 year rebuild that is seemingly (still) going nowhere. It's decades of frustration, with seemingly no end in sight. It's 150 years of mediocrity.

That's why these losses hurt. It's not just a kneejerk reaction to one bad performance. It's what we've all had to endure, week after week, since 2011.
