Blues may not finish above the Hawks this year but they're quite clearly a fraudulent team as well so no harm done either way.

Can't recall a team so arrogant and sooky ever doing significant damage in finals. Probably why they lost to the immortal King Kenny last year and got embarrassed again the other week by him while they were getting ready to show off their new tik tok celebrations.
Your rustled jimmies are showing.

Ya know Walshy there’s something ironic about people being getting their knickers in a twist about “sooks” 🤣

Arguably the most interesting thing about this comparison is how opposite these lists are.

Carlton has lots of A+ level elite talent (i.e. those competing for Colemans, Brownlows, MVPs, AA's ,etc) - Cripps, Curnow, Weitering, McKay, now TDK, etc. They have highly regarded key forwards and a very strong clearance unit. They play a contested, slower game and lack elite ball users and line breaking pace. They don't have much in the small forward department and their lack of depth (both their bottom 6 and outside their 22) has been criticised.

Hawthorn have very few established A+ level elite talent (i.e. 0 Colemans, 0 Brownlows and 2 AA's in the last 6 seasons). Their key forwards are injured/unheralded and there are questions about their midfield dominance when missing 1-2 key players. They have lots of classy users and line breakers though and a bevvy of good quality small forwards. They like to play with pace on the ball and their lack of truly elite players is made up for by a strong bottom 6 and very capable depth.

Part of the fascination for me (aside from the obvious draft pick implications) is seeing how 2 teams that have gone in almost exact opposite directions fare in comparison to each other.

Just to substantiate the above post in regards to suggesting Hawthorn seem to have very good list depth...

The "bottom 6" at Hawthorn would be very, very hard to pick (changes most weeks) and would likely surprise most.

But beyond the 22, Box Hill are clear on top of the ladder with players that have proved very capable at AFL level.

We started the season with Gunston outside the 22 and injuries have given him a chance, where he now has the 3rd highest goal average in the league.
Josh Ward was not selected either and injuries to Worpel and then Day gave him a chance, where he has now averaged 22 touches a game.
Changkuoth Jiath has been outside the 22 most of the year but is a good AFL player and has been collecting Coaches votes when he gets given a full game.
Scrimshaw is a quality AFL interceptor but is in the VFL with supporters unsure how we fit him back in with Battle, Barrass, Weddle and Sicily to return.
Luke Breust can't get a game but is still a quality experienced player that is handy to have as depth.
Cam McKenzie can't get back in at the moment (after 1 quiet game), despite him collecting coaches votes this year and averaging 20+ disposals before his 1 quiet match.
On top of those guys, we still have to drop players for the returns of Day, Worpel, Lewis, Dear and Sicily when they return to fitness.

We also still have experienced AFL players in the VFL that can capably cover injury including James Blanck and Sam Frost as key defenders, Ned Reeves in the ruck, Finn Maginness (and Cam McKenzie as mentioned) in the mids (as well as Scrimshaw, Breust, etc). That's not including the young players who are consistently tearing it up at VFL level because as we've seen with Hustwaite (who would be the best player in the VFL this season by some margin), it doesn't always immediately translate to AFL impact.

It’s all off the ground stuff.

Hawthorn have an elite board and president.

Carlton have the opposite. Anyone who tries to make Carlton better gets knifed.

Whilst the gap will probably only be 2 games after this week, it will be tough for the Blues to beat the Pies and Lions without Walsh and McKay

Do Carlton have the most overrated top 5 in the league?

Weitering, Cripps, Curnow, Walsh, McKay?

That's as dumb as it gets, our coach and CEO have been there for a while with the CEO retiring because he's 70, our football manager Brad Loyd is still there after years so you should return to the zoo with your Pie mates.

Your Coach, CEO and Football manager are not on the board. So your point makes no sense.
