Kick in from a opp behind.

Slowly look around with ball in hand. Take a few slow steps, kick to a big pack of players with no team mates able to attack with momentum. Hope the ball spills out.

Oppo kick in from our behind

Everyone back off allowing kicker to run the full allowed distance. Hope to get the ball.

Big Tommy gets 5 free kicks and 4 goals if he was wearing a Carlton or Collingwood jumper today.
So many of our supposed clearances went straight to Adelaide players. The only midfielder that could hit a target by hand or foot was Jack Ross. I'm so sick of our coaching staff choosing the same three midfielders time and time again. Can't they see it's not working. FFS try something different.
To anybody on this site who wants to criticize our small forwards just imagine knowing no matter where you stand or where you lead our midfield will kick the ball straight to the Adelaide defenders.

I don’t think a different coach would make a bag of beans of difference.
Frankly that Adelaide side (on paper at least) should beat us by 10 goals. They’re that much further ahead in development.
The truth is the younger players we most want to see in action have been out injured anyway. This is the inevitable result of all of this.

exactly spot on

Yze defended Lynch said "he feels like he is getting held" well no shit anyone can see that. it should have seeked clarification before this incident.
If he really believes that then, go to the tribunal and take video proof. Actually, make an issue of it. They won't of course!

There are players holding down spots in the current 22 that will be replaced by Lalor, Hotton and Smillie at some point.

Alger had a good game. He is fair at the ball and looks like he can score.

Greene and Sonsie are two that will likely make way when the time comes.

Let's face it, our remaining veterans even during their best years I think most would agree were never classed as elite in the area of foot skills. Like it or not the AFL has with rule changes turned the game into a weird hybrid almost netball type game requiring fast and precise movement of the ball.

The game has essentially gone past us following our chaos styled glory years, class X factor players have gone and of those remaining we just don't have quick skilful creative player types, every other team vying for finals have numerous versions of these types at their disposal.

We all know we are in a rebuild and part of this process involves a change to our recruiting strategy which includes bringing in a range of more skilful players who also have the ability sum up the moment quickly because they are instinctive. Unfortunately and wearing my Captain Obvious hat, we don't have many if any at all highly instinctive players with AFL games experience at this point in time.

In today's game you just can't hide players who don't meet minimum standards for skills and IQ and at the minute we are hiding too many. It's a case of identifying those players who don't tick the boxes and who have not shown any incremental improvement over a period of time and cut them loose as soon as possible. You just can't persist with poorly skilled individuals for what the game of AFL is right now.

It's fact that any job where you cannot fulfill the fundamental skills you simply either wouldn't get the job in the first instance or if struggling consistently you would be offered assistance but with no further improvement quickly shown the door. RFC did extremely well with their recruiting during a compromised draft period, essentially picking bits and pieces from a pretty ravaged carcass but of those you can get the occasional gold nugget but for the most part you end up with battlers, who are tenacious loyal and give it their all but is this enough these days unless you also have skills to go with it.

It's going to get ugly at times as it has on occasions so far and probably more horrible performances for a few seasons to come which quite honestly will be a very hard watch for supporters at times. I guess the issue Yze has is trying to get games into the right players, the future of the club, rather than wearing the rose coloured glasses I believe he's wearing at the moment.

The club needs to be honest and brutal at player meetings at the end of the season, and yes, it's a big family and we all love each other but it's a big business too and you do what's right for the club and if the player clearly doesn't fit the blueprint moving forward then unfortunately they need to go.

big problem is that we kept drafting players on the assumption that Steve Hocking wasn't totally corrupt, and now those players are in their mid 20s and no good for the new version of AFL footy

we are in a bad spot atm as we do not have experienced players to show the kids the way. macca is not the answer but we have to play him. we have a coaching team that is generally clueless, what is our game plan and our kids are not strong enough (poor weak bodies) and yet skilled enough. so many turnovers today and no system going forward. keep playing blight please. keep playing trainor. get someone who knows how to coach the mids connection to forwards and then we have a slow moving system of prestia, hopper tartanto. we desperately need speed and skill.
