crows way too slick.

Our basic skill errors in our possession chains halted our own momentum which hurt but hopefully fixes over time.

Ross I thought was good in the guts for the most part. That’s his spot.

Banks I really enjoyed his game.

Alger 2 goals made me happy!

Balta is a 10 x better player when playing on instinct and see ball / get ball IMO.

Our midfield CBA still bugs me.

Taranto, Hopper, Prestia and Ross only used.

Individually they often all get good numbers but collectively as a unit it’s just not doing it.

Yeah we might get good clearance numbers but the quality of clearance is poor.

Must be more creative in this space and get others involved.

Crows have beaten other teams by more this year. So not all bad.

With next week is Balta safe time wise?
Agree, there’s just no pace on the spread from those 4 and average skill level generally. Would love to see some fresh blood given a look through the middle to add pace to that mix. What do we have to lose when the game is gone at half time.

Staggering to me that they thought Mcintosh was a good addition to the midfield mix, ahead of others when considering midfield depth and balance through the pre season.

Went to the game even thought it was looking like it was going to be a wet weather day - it was only "wet weather" in the way we play. First things first ;

If Tom Lynch played for Collingwood, Hawthorn or Bulldogs today he would have kicked 3-4 goals and not been reported.

I'm glad Yze mentioned the four dodgy frees in "marking contests" around the 10 min mark of the third. It's about time this sort of "bad umpiring" gets called for what it is.

Alger, Banks, Ross, Prestia and Broad were good for us. This is where we are as a team - losing badly but also not having our best side out there week by week. No Lynch against the Scats will be a tough lesson for our inexperienced forwards.

Resist the temptation to blood Hotton next week. Give him a full game at VFL, but time to make changes and I hope Lalor is available. Sonsie is not a forward, not a midfielder and not an AFL standard player. Green and Mansell putrid (again).

Only 24K at the ground but it seems to be much less. Mostly due to performance, but the way the club has shafted Reserve Seat members by moving us to the wing so far into the MCG we are almost in the toilets. No wonder the crowds are not going.

Out - Lynch (sus), LeFau (inj), Sonsie (delist), Green
In - Sims, Short, Lalor, MRJ

I would try Blight up forward.
How do you know Sonsie is not a midfielder? We never give him a chance there. Taranto and Hopper can spend game after game kicking the ball to the opposition and that's OK but lets not try playing Sonsie in the midfield where he was showing promise before we recruited Hopper and Taranto. Is the club afraid that if he succeeds, they will be forced to make a decision on one of them or Prestia.

Lots of talk about Yze is letting the list managers off the hook.

Holding onto players like Dow, Sonsie and Smith, while letting players like Davidson, D'Ambrosio and McCarthy slip through to other clubs is concerning.

This is not a one off faux pas, but a pattern now.

Lynch is a professional athlete on a million dollars a year.
Trying to blame the coaching staff for Lynch being a sook and undisciplined is ridiculous.
Yze should know his players and protect his players.

That’s the incident, four on 1 and the def is using Lynch’s jumper as leverage.
Lefau been off the ground for ten min and still Yze hadn’t sent Balta fwd.
He’d been getting physical, trying to engage the umpire for nearly the full 2 quarters.

That’s the incident.
Still the defender has his jumper and Lynch swings around to smash his arm.
It doesn’t make contact with the head.
Lynch is a combative Pwer Fwd and a club champion that has contributed to flags they’ve let him get a scragged and dbl teamed all year, for a bloke that’s been injured for two years and was at one stage the best Pwer fwd in the game, Yze should have done more.
Yze was one of the softest, bruise free players to ever play and it looks to me like he hasn’t done enough looking after a club champ.

Lynch has played 230 odd games and has been suspended for two weeks in all of that.
I absolutely think Yze should’ve seen what was building and done something about it.

Problems are many
Ordinary midfield that light on For contested ball winning ability , too often players like Hugo fail to win critical ball in the middle of the ground , how often does the oppo link up a passage of play with powerful sure overhead marks while we look like club 18 std
A long tail of players below afl std
Green
Mansell
Sons
Then u have players just starting to find their way showing flashes of what they’re capable of

Out ; lynch (last season hopefully) lefau green sonz
In lalor tresize OHB short
OHB to come in against Essendon and WC when Balta can't play.

I’m sure it has very little to do with Yze. They’ve been on the list before Yze even started at the club. Second, even if we had a pick, we couldn’t have selected McCarthy. The way people talk up Davidson is like he’s an A-grade player.

Balta probly won't play next week
Will be very close to curfew
The game will finish about 7.16 pm by the time he gets out with all the Geelong traffic he might not be able to make it home by ten pm Laura Kane be waiting out side Noah's house with a stopwatch in one hand and a mobile phone talking to Jacinta Allen on the other hand
Plus he will miss round 18 and 19 against essendon and Eagles
So let him have 3 whole weeks off
Play him in the vfl.
Who knows we might get #1 pick in a trade in the vfl draft.

That’s what I thought I saw , hits him in shoulder blade , still I think they’ll give him 3w

Time for Lynch to go. He has done little over the past few years and his brain farts are costing us. Not leading by example when he does that. I’m still wondering what the game plan is beyond giving the kids a go. We seem totally out of our depth at the moment - what has happened over the past few weeks??
What a great idea.
So then sides dble team Faull.
You be calling for his head next.

We now have players that simply, are not up to AFL standard.
  1. Sonsie.....
  2. Green (I've held back on him but unfortunately hasnt shown anything and we have Alger and Hotton which will overtake him soon)
  3. Mansell-Tough as they come but VFL at best
  4. Blight-Built like a brick s-house but to make it at this level he needs to learn to mark and kick. I have faith he will come good but he is touch and go IMO.

We simply need to keep playing Alger and get Hotton in asap.

blight needs a few more. you can add macca to that list.

Ross got 23 possessions and most of them went to advantage. He is a very creative user of the ball and strong in the contest. He should be in the middle most of the time rather than the 3 usuals. It is going to come to a crunch when McAuliffe, Lalor, Hotton and with a bit of luck Smillie come into the side. There is no room for all of Hopper, Prestia and Taranto and those mentioned above. Something has to give as those 3 are awful users of the ball. (Prestia has been good but age is not on his side).

Banks is our new Houli, Rioli HB who times his run perfectly to receive the handball so that he is at full tilt running forward when he gets it. So much better than Short in that regard. Just need Brown to start backing himself as well. Attack comes from half back these days so Brown needs to be given more licence to leave the defensive 50.

When Lalor, Hotton and Algar are all in together, our forward line will be so much more potent. All three are good in the air, read the play like natural forwards and are quick. Green has lost all confidence, Sonsie is slow and does not put his head over the ball, and Mansell is not a forward.

Adelaide is a very good side on the rise and I feared for a real pasting before the game. 70 odd points is a pasting, but it wasn't one way traffic. Until we sort out our midfield, and injuries to Lalor and McAuliffe and Ross being squeezed forward hasn't helped, we are going to struggle against the top sides. Papering over cracks when we play avarage to poor sides because our midfield can hold their own.

Blight has played about 4 senior games let him build his belief , fmd , he has played better than that , let him play a few in a row , the rest you're bang on , with finger hovering over

He IS a good midfielder at VFL level. He was not at any centre bounces that I recall, but he was at stoppages in the backline and forwardline so it is safe to say he was playing onball compared to previous games where he was predominantly full time forward.

Take sonsie out of the side and the margin would still have been 10 goals. Take Taranto or Hopper out the side and it would be closer to 100 points. I've seen enough of Sonsie and I'd much rather see Prestia sign up for another year.

piss weak to only ask for clarification regarding lynch now, it's not like it has only been happening since this week, and it's not like this is the only time lynch has lost his temper regarding thing

should've asked multiple times ages ago and then you would have more of a standing to call out the umps, rather than it seeming like a knee-jerk reaction to one game

Benny Gale had that similar criticism of the coach last year failed to take hold and seize the moment.

I cannot see Steve Morris as head coach tolerating any of that none sense treatment of his key forward.

Then again one was like a hard edged Alsatian as he went about his football career the other more like a Pomeranian.

Yes good effort little fella but...

It looked like there was barely 20K at the G yesterday and yes it was a cold Sunday arvo, but even our board and CEO would have noted the massive drop off in support.
