Now I haven't watched the whole Test match but what was the reason for the send-off from Starc to Seales?

Did Seales do something to him during the game?

And as I speak , they are blowing up on Caribbean Cricket Podcast on Youtube Live:

Seales was acting like a bell end all game, that's why

It was a bad innings to end the series but all sides have particularly bad ones from time to time. The fact that it was the last innings of the series makes it perceptibly a lot worse - no chance for redemption, the memory and doubts linger a lot longer.

Like you say the overall batting performance wasn't great either but not expected to be. That last innings is best forgotten, move on. It happens.

Yep, plus the Broad Trent bridge debacle. Windies themselves in a side featuring Gayle, Sarwan, Lara and Chanderpaul if you go back a bit further, destroyed by Harmison for 47 on a pitch where both sides made 350-ish in the first innings.

I’m still pretty shattered and it’s worse because obviously this side doesn’t have the protection of saying ‘we’ve got a decent record of posting reasonable scores.’ We are a lot worse than those teams.

But it is on the flip side a team that’s just been put together. One debutant, another player in his first series who frankly hasn’t earned his spot.

Another playing his first test in five years. Another his first test in 3. Another his first test in 2. Another who has just been recalled and is still a rookie. And our all rounder is the Temu version of the best test cricketer we’ve had over the past decade.

Against an attack as good as Australia’s there is the potential there for it to go absolutely haywire. And boy did it

Don’t make me remember that series.

Apparently poking an old bull results in receiving the experienced horns. Seales gave Smith and Starc send offs earlier in the test.

Simply a ridiculous few overs of cricket.

The Windies have a lot of hope with the ball, really impressed by their bowling group but getting enough runs on the board to win tests looks a serious hill - even if we discard today's obvious outlier.

Starc, in his 100th with THAT performance. Might actually take a while for the significance of it to really sink in.

Poor Scotty B. Imagine bowling a hat-trick and still being the page 2 story.

Not the sports greatest day

The discussion of West Indies cricket has been had a million times and will happen again.

Just for today, this is Starc’s day. That spell was unbelievable, you could have rolled out just about any batting lineup and he would have ripped through it bowling the way he did.

For a guy who has never really gotten the credit he is due, let him have today.

he is seriously angry, he believes there is no answer (I started watching from the start)

2 questions sorry:

Was Inglis a concussion sub, or sub fielder? I.e. does it count as a test match played for him?

How stiff are you to take a hat trick, and probably not get to keep the ball? 6-9 and 400th wicket ...

looking at cricinfo stats, he's still stuck on having played 3 tests (the 2 in SL and 1 earlier in the series in Barbados).

do you actually have to bat or bowl to constitute having played a game under the concussion rule ?

Not the sports greatest day
I remember watching India get knocked over a few years ago for two parts of f*** all and it was utterly thrilling, this just felt sad.

Top 6 - 0, 4, 0, 0, 0, 2 - total 6.
My guess is that it suffices to check the innings for the lowest fall of each wicket - from that I haven’t found a worse performance from the top 6 collectively. I think 4 is the worst aggregate for a top 5 as well.

At least WI don’t hold the first class record for a top 6, the Bs are worse.

It is bloody sad to see the Windies fall from what they became under Clive Lloyd.

No cricket side in history matched the 80's line up.

As much as they smashed us for years (and every other nation) you couldn't help but be in awe at their batsman and the conveyor belt of fast bowlers they produced. They were awesome to watch.

We have all seen the demise of WI test cricket and the standard going down hill for years. So one must ask where are the past greats of that era? Are they involved in WI cricket in any capacity as advisors, specialised coaches etc? Has the WI hierarchy asked them to help the test side in any way, shape or form?

Or don't they simply give a shit?

Imagine having Haynes; Vivi; Greenidge; Lara etc on board to help the batsman. It's not a guaranteed panacea to success but surely it would have to help?
