Team synergy is a thing. Can't just flick the switch.

It was delightful to see Bobby, Jordy, & our premiership full forward.

Good on you for braving the elements.

How did McGuane junior go?
He did some nice things specially when put him on ball. Was starved of opportunities in the forward line given we couldn’t get it in there or bombed it long 😂
What you don’t see unless it’s at the ground is his work rate and all the hard running he does up and down the ground. A lot of rewarded work especially playing wing

I think we need to be objective with McGuane. Remove the last name.

Now, if his name was Jordan smith for example. What would we think of his game tonight? Or his recent metro games?
I think it’s exactly because of his name that we unfairly set high expectations.
Unless there are egregious skill deficiencies persistence can pay off eg Josh, who many here thought would never make it.

Is he still 17? I have no doubt he will be a classy addition to the team. How anyone's potential can be assessed in those conditions is a joke. He would clearly find plenty of the pill at the elite level, which always rewards tireless runners and where players hit targets more often when they do make space or present as an option. I've seen entire teams struggle to perform one week and look like the flag favourite the very next week-Gold Coast are a good example of this.

Tommy will be fine.

I’m only highlighting this because there’s been previous comparisons to gulden. Think we need to severely temper expectations with him.

Some of us have been trying to get this message across all year in the father son thread, but keep getting thwarted. There's nothing wrong with trying to give an realistic view of his development, while also hoping for the absolute best for him.

Yup, still 17 until end of August.
The conditions didn't suit the forwards in general, and when it was kicked in, it was bombed lol Hopefully gets another game at the level before going back to the jets
I do like they decided to put him on ball, but would have been nice if it was done sooner, when we had to mix things up. When instead they had Hill and Hayes at centre bounce in the 3rd Q

I spoke to Mick a fair bit tonight, at the 3 QT huddle, he wasn't happy with our players. Felt like they needed to get their fcken head over the ball and stop being weak.
He calls it how he sees it lol

Exactly, not sure why everybody is expecting him to have 35 and kick 3. I think he’s done okay considering the attention the Frankston players have had on him.

Their was a little chance he was gonna play next week regardless of his performance so hopefully he gets another run out next week.

Assume he’ll be less time managed 2nd time up. Hopefully he hasn’t done too much damage to the finger.

Bobby should just have gone straight into the AFL side ey?

I think the issue with Bobby is the training he has missed, and a concern with playing the game out? Otherwise he looked more like he could have gone straight back into the seniors.

In fairness I think Stormy has been one of those voices having watched him in his time at Keilor (from memory). It was certainly a flat start to his senior journey.

Nothing against Mcguane but he's definitely not a 1st rounder
Suits me fine.
Happy for us to have easier access to him over another player we don’t know much about.
Measure him against his own cohort and he looks like someone who can play.
No doubt the variables in last night’s game made it more difficult for him.
He’ll be better for the run

You mean football conditions?

IMO, Degoo looked good last night, was being tagged and scragged, 19 possessions in limited game time, too good for VFL. Umps IMO didn't help.

Apart from Grey midfield got mauled!

It will be handy though having DeGoo, Bobby and Frampton back!

I liked Steene's game too and thought Parker is definitely on the cusp of going to the next level. Parker needs a little confidence and commitment from senior coaches at the next level which more than likely won't happen now seeing it is the business end of the season.

He was right. The number of times players went in with their hands and not body was frustrating.

I was unable to watch the game and the play by play posts here made it difficult to discern how well our three Senior players were going - but the AFL gave them a decent write up, particularly DeGoey

Be interesting if any of the big 3 who played last night will play against Brisbane

We seem to be very conservative at selection at the moment so wouldn’t surprise if only 1 of them gets promoted with Howe
