unfortunately we decided that the one player we wouldn’t put any pressure on was nick daicos and he ran around at like 80% uncontested and was basically the difference

Left the ground feeling good, considering we lost by 6 goals.
Seeing the game plan evolve each week and players showing vast improvement is what puts a smile on my face.

The only thing I saw far too often were pies players being too loose and positioned in some formation to receive a get out of jail handball or kick out wide to a free player.

Other than that, I thought we fought hard, but the pies cleaner ball use showed out in the end.

Overall happy with the game today. Wasn't happy with either Sonsie & Balta in the 1st quarter. Sonsie needs to get in & get dirty when its his turn, not run along side an opposition player & point at someone else to go & get the player. Also Balta efforts were below par. After quarter time the boys played better. Sonsie does some things well with ball in hands, but needs to pull the trigger faster at times. Balta in the 2nd half gave Moore a bath which was good to see. Balta also needs to work harder on his disposal. Also wish Hopper was a bit more decisive with his ball use.
Loved the way Hotton goes about his footy & another great game from Flossy & great pressure from Rioli & Steely in the fwd line.

His kicking is sublime for a FB… he bites off the corridor and plays with intuition and confidence. Great to see his improvement, he’s locked FB as his own now.

Fancy saying that we need to find tall forwards! We've just recruited 3 of the best in the land and of course Lynch is past his prime, but he's not there to win us games, he's there to teach the wunderkinds what it takes to win and more importantly what it takes to win finals.

You seem to want instant gratification and that's not going to happen, open your eyes and see exactly what's going on.

The tempo was good but didn't have the skills.
Their pressure and execution in the third was the difference.

Sonsie prolific but often slow to release.
Miller great by foot again taking risks through the corridor.
Balta good up forward.

You're right in what you're saying about Sonsie, he can kill quick transitional plays by wanting to take the best option and maintain possession (not a bad thing but not the best either). It was probably highlighted by the Pies doing exactly what Sonsie could have done on quite a few occasions, don't think about it too much, just take the yardage and let the guys further up the ground deal with it, it's too late if you dither and allow oppos to get numbers back.

It's something that Hoyne highlighted as a way to beat the Pies, go direct and hard at them and give the forwards a chance to win one on one contests rather than be shut down and turned over when they have the troops around.

Sonz was much better after a a couple of bumbling efforts early , needs to use that left if it’s on , he did after he he kicked an entry out on full q1, was a pretty good game from him , reckon he has Dow covered
