He is out of contract.

He isn’t a free agent.

When you accept that the only path forward to SA is via a trade, you’ll see we will get whatever value we think is fair.

Except that there's no case in living memory where a player nominated a club, got pushed into the draft, and was taken by a different club. Nick Stevens in about 1918 was the last one. It just doesn't happen.

Sign the 2 years plus a trigger, give us time to become a powerhouse with his best mates, gives SA clubs time to sort their shit out. Just can't see any possible way he leaves without us being screwed. I felt once Bergman signed for Port, that meant Nas wasn't leaving.

Nas needs to do what's right for him. There's one life to live, if home is what he wants then he needs to do it, regardless of what the club gets.
Clubs are ruthless with players, no issue with players being ruthless with clubs.
What I'll say though is that normally I'm pretty scathing of the club on most things but I don't think there's much more we could have done. These things just happen sometimes.

And we can say an unknown numbered 1st round pick and who is essentially two seconds is not enough for the best player in the comp. A guy they are apparently offering to paying 2 million in 2026.

They can say whatever they want. Doesn't mean we have to take it as gospel and accept what we know isnt true or fair.

I agree but we all know the way the AFL operate - it becomes a media battle. They'll do whatever they think gets them the best PR. If the deadshits in the media say "two first rounders and one second is a fair price" then the "independent" AFL mediator will go with that.

Two thing can be true at once. I think he really love the club, coach and team mates. I’m not sure even if he wants to go home he would do it if he knew it would screw the club over

Thankfully no one listens to the South Australian media. In the Vic media this week, it was proposed in a straight swap between Nas and Butters that's we'd be wanting the sweetener alongside Butters to make the deal even.

Most of the media is on our side.

I completely understand that - 100%

BUT something in me just feels like for St Kilda to win that elusive second flag, these things need to be pushed through. Flags are hard for all teams, but they're near impossible for us. For us to win it, we may need players to just park that stuff for the greater goal of being a St Kilda legend. Win the damn thing, then we'll do everything right by you.

Selfish I know, but if we aren't will we get anywhere haha

Nailed it

I’m sure there’s plenty of jobs flipping burgers in Adelaide if the pull of home is that strong but you chose to be an AFL footballer and take on everything that entails

We’re not a charity

He served the length of his contract. And done it very well for us. Performances have gone to another level even with the speculation.

For me it's important that when they become a St Kilda player they understand things won't come easy here, that we aren't taking shortcuts, that we CAN'T take shortcuts. You need to sacrifice but at the end, that becomes the most incredible glory that you will ever experience. And something that won't be replicated at any other club. You'd be part of the greatest flag in history.

When we draft or sign players, put them in a room, play them something that encapsulates everything that is St Kilda and what it means. Shameless mention but Arsenal do this so well as per the below at the 5:55 mark.

I’m not for one second saying he will go to the PSD/ND.

What I’m pointing out is that this entire idea we will be bent over and told to enjoy it is false.

He is OOC, there is no path to SA without a trade.

So, I completely agree we won’t get full value for Nas.

But I’m very comfortable in saying 2xtop 10 picks + a future or later first is FAIR.

How either club gets that ^^^ is on them. If either club acts like their fanbases and says: Bergman Butters Draper Curtin etc etc are all off the table.

Then a deal can’t be done. That’s part of having to trade for an OOC player, you need to give to get. It isn’t, well all they can offer us is a half eaten snickers and a 2027 first rounder so bad luck.

Given that our stance is the system is broken and we can’t compete as things stand if Nas leaves it just highlights what we’ve been saying.

Now it may seem harsh but if it comes to pass that Nas wants out it means Nas and his manager have been playing us. Nas despite his supposed love for the club has decided how it happens is not his problem. Surely it’s been suggested to him that if he signs and wants out in 12 months we can reluctantly make that happen as 1 of the SA clubs will need to stump up fair value.

I believe the loss of Nas without fair compensation will put us back years given that I’m going scorched earth. Nas can put his self interest first and so can we, if it suits our cause to send him to the draft so be it.

Watch the afl scramble if that comes to pass.

Even if Nas says he wants out.

Williams has to be part of the negotiation to get him home. That means he has to understand what it will take from us and work with his SA club.

For example, last trade period the Collingwood/port/GC trade involving Houston and Noble etc had the player agents meet and work out the trade themselves and then present it back to the clubs.

One more point here. This whole time we've been told we can't pull out of deals because playe

And Port Adelaide got absolutely reamed...

Yeah there is. He goes to the PSD, and everyone else leaves him for Port. Most likely thing to happen if we can't get a trade done. No-one gets poached, they get to where they're going.

This is the correct point. His manager will tell the other clubs that if you pick Nas we will not deal with you for any other players (i've heard this point being made a bunch of times in the past about pulling out of player offers and other scenarios)

You’re underestimating how highly Nas is rated, this isn’t a Luke Ball situation ie a bloke with question marks around him. If he nominates for the draft he’s the best player in it by a mile. No way 17 clubs can ignore that.

He won’t get to the draft because all parties would know that if he does it is not going to end the way they want.

Just pondering. Could the wait be because nas and Williams are trying to figure out if butters would be open to a St Kilda trade? Maybe they're getting a vibe on that and if not will re-sign

Port got reamed on their own accord. The player was contracted and they committed to other players they would bring them across.

Mate Ben Williams is not Paul Connors. He doesn’t have that pull and I’d love to see the struggling Eagles or North Or Richmond or Essendon pass on Nas.

Excuse the intrusion but there's a lot of people saying Butters is a real chance to end up at the Dogs at the end of this season.

We don't really have the draft capital for him, outside of our current pick 10 (which blows out due to compromises) and our 26 and 27 first round picks. But if Butters was involved in a trade for Nas I'd imagine it's more likely he is traded somewhere else for the picks used to acquire Nasiah.
