Well, Nank had some average games (average, not bad) so now we prefer average games from Smith. How did Smith overtake Nank in the half back queue?

Yep, those rain drops were a lot harder than PortIt may have been forced, seeing how brutal the weather was against Port.
Cam Rayner got 5 years before he even looked half good.Just think we should stick with him for another 20 games without any discussion on performance. Short sighted selection. How’s he going to get to Murphy level if we don’t carry him for 70 more games?
Cheap draftDefine cheap? I thought the contract was heavily backended and was up around $1.5m in the last year.?
Because he gets himsWhy is Nank no longer considered for the defensive rotation? Was ahead of Smith last year and hadn’t been given a chance this year.
Nank just didn’t play well enough when he had chances - therefore he has fallen down the order. Ran himself into trouble as often as he got the ball. It’s a terrible selection, it’s not much better than selecting Murphy. It’s the same low ceiling philosophy choosing experience over younger players that have a future ahead of them. Somehow Nank’s borderline form on a wing and forward has eliminated him from the defensive depth chart. It’s these selections that guarantee we’ll never win the 3 in a row required to win a flag.

We have used a similar amount of players to all the teams around us. Sit in the middle. Finals trs don’t typically experiment muchThat’s not in our forward thinking
Not with spread of games though. We have used a similar amount of players to all the teams around us. Sit in the middle. Finals trs don’t typically experiment much
Nah.If we don't beat Hawthorn at home we have absolutely no chance of becoming premiers this season
yes we doIf we don't beat Hawthorn at home we have absolutely no chance of becoming premiers this season
Laughable, Nank outperformed Milera at half throughout the preseason. But hasn’t had a crack during the season in that role. Instead was deployed to a wing and the coaches have locked him into only that role for this season. Bit you’d support Murphy’s re-selection if it was to occur, that’s just the type of supporter you are.
If Draper comes on this preseason, Berry will displace most (all) of themSays it all, doesn't it? A coaching group which is clearly locked in (noting both our record and profile), looked at Nank at half back after preseason and said "thanks, but no thanks". Clearly there is something in that profile that we didn't like. Also wing is just for the excess outside mids (that didn't crack half back) or developing inside midfielders, so it's not as much a "woe is me" that you're presenting.
Yup, what of it? I've been pretty consistent in recent times that I don't rate any of Taylor, Cook, Pedlar, or Murphy at this point in time, so I don't particularly care what we do in this slot. I rate not beating Murph comfortably as a big red flag in a profile, as he's a gatekeeper.
If someone sits on Amon I presume Impey gets used more. Impey won’t go forward as much now BMacDonald is out.We have been playing one “accountable” forward on the oppositions most dangerous rebounder for most of the year. In recent weeks it has been Zac Taylor. This player inevitably gets the thumbs down from some posters but we have reduced the influence of the oppositions key rebounders since the Hawthorn match (Bowey, Dale, Noble, Rozee).
In the first half against Hawthorn we dominated them everywhere other than the scoreboard and Amon had little influence. They then used Impey as their outlet player and the game turned. We didn’t use an “accountable” forward on Impey and we lived to regret it.
Will Mitchell go back to the same playbook this time or will he initially revert to plan A (Impey had been spending some time forward in recent weeks.
I expect to see Zac line up on Amon but it will be interesting to compare the coaching tactics.
Nash plays in the guts, Chol forward.Murray (195cm) - Nash (198cm)
Worrell (195cm) - Lewis (199cm)
Keane (194cm)- Dear (195cm)
Hinge (can play tall) (187cm) - Gunston (193cm)
Bond - Watson

If Berry gets pushed out of the midfield, he's a cracking option for as a forwardPossible, and not something I'd considered at this point. It may not even be Draper seeing I have Curtin moving to inside mid round 1 next year.
I think Ginnivan/Watson would have run rings around Laird.Laird had a brief chat to Burgess after match sim and gestured to his leg, not to mention he played in the B team.
Didn’t seem particularly sore but I guess it was already determined he wasn’t going to play.

Quick, loves a tackle, kicks both feet, good in the contest, loves a goal .. what's not to like?
Nicks loves a fella who can perform in different roles

That may be your view. I think you find a lot of people would consider Nanks performances to be levels below Milera, Laird and even Smith - earlier this year. In fact bad enough that he has been moved more forward than defence in recent times - clearly the coaching panel doLaughable, Nank outperformed Milera at half throughout the preseason. Our defensive forward doesn’t play a tight tag, it is more a case of preventing uncontested possessions to the oppositions key rebounding defender in spots that result in large metres gained. Zac Taylor has had this role in recent weeks but what he does is not obvious. He has however kept some very good rebounding defenders below their usual output. If someone sits on Amon I presume Impey gets used more. Impey won’t go forward as much now BMacDonald is out.
Depends on what you consider as a spreadNot with spread of games though.
