Love this - a club that's always been successful and includes the AFL premiership while just casually ignoring the last 13 years.

No more little battling club punching above our weight nonsense.

The difference in attitude in a guy who comes from a huge club.

Agreed, I thought Webster spoke well in that interview he knew a fair bit about the history of the PAFC, didn't play it down ala our so called president and was definitely more impressive than either of `Kymbo or Rooch,' not that it would be very difficult to do that.

Dillon had no knowledge of how the Simpson medal was awarded at the time or the result of that 2003 game between SA and WA (which wouldn't have been difficult to confirm before he began the interview), and when Rucci corrected him it sounded like he said `Fos' Williams won it, which would have been some achievement given Fos passed away in 2001.

the more i hear/read i can’t see Skipworth being one of the remaining options… he’s pulled out of Melbourne job and apparently was runner up to west coast - it feels like for his own career progression he’s more likely to continue to grow his profile where he is.
Don't all the clues point to Stuart Dew? He's an assistant coach at Brisbane so still involved in the finals (as per the Chewy clue). The Richo letter hinted that the supporter base would be pleased. With his experience winning multiple premierships as a player, an assistant at Sydney when they won in 2012 and at Brisbane in 2024 and has coached in his own right, he has outside of Alberton experience and would be an ideal resource for Carr.

I never thought these words would ever come from my keyboard but Dew is the perfect fit.

Every time a player or staff member speaks about Josh Carr, they use the word ruthless. Music.

I thought Webster spoke well enough. He didn't really talk too much about football related things or give his or their hand away. Kept it simple.

He's going to be key to the team if he's the defensive coach. We really need some serious coaching back there as there is a lot of potential but it needs a guy to lead and mold them into a winning back 6. There is some polishing that will need to be done. Some better team work and gameplan stuff as well.

Carr told Webster to try and convince Bergman to stay in defence?
I’d be pretty pissed off if I’m Bergman. He said the midfield minutes he was getting was part of the reason he was confident to re-sign.
Bergman was our best defender for 2 top 4 finishes IMO. I like it and he should too.

It has happened so consistently that it must be a media department directive. Which takes the gloss off of it slightly for me.

But it is still great to hear.

I've heard the same word used from people who have no connection to the club but who have some experience with Carr. And always in a positive way.

The assistant coaches will often joke about wanting a player in their part of the field. Like Chad wanted Butters as a forward etc.

Bergman must want to win a Brownlow, i thought hisnrole down back was perfect for him and is almost as glamorous role as a midfielder

Bergman in the midfield needs to be used like Dawson is at the crows. Be that wing contest aerial threat who occasionally pushes forwards.

Heard Webster on SEN. 15 min interview. Not the clearest, most insightful speaker based on first impressions. Maybe I’m harsh, but it wasn’t a great interview IMO.
I must have listened to a different interview!!

The one I listened to, he was clear and concise. In fact, a very impressive interview. Looking forward to getting him in.

I thought that segment was very much tongue in cheek
it was 100% tongue in cheek. the sort of comment every line coach makes when asked if they want to pick all the best players in their line.

Nah. As I have posted before. Two SANFL ex players who know Josh well both used the same description to me. And this is well before recent commentary of the same. Both non Port people as well.
