Cups aren't given out in the minor round. Beating up on shit teams, what an achievement.
So we only beat the shit teams? Geelong and Freo are the only teams we didn't beat.

Collingwood, Brisbane, Hawthorn, Suns, GWS, Bulldogs (the team you think would put up a better showing than us) Are those the shit teams you mention?

Quite possible we lose. Quite possible every other team expected to win, loses, like the majority did last week, because of the even top 8.

Yeah that's all fine but the moment we wanted to play with the big boys and finish top....expectations rightfully rose. I would have rather us finish 5th if this is how we were gonna turn up last week. I'm sure Port also wishes they never made the 2007 GF....it's soul destroying. Don't finish top if you're not gonna see it through. Simple.

So, aim low and never be disappointed?

Finishing top promises 2 home finals, nothing more.

So you think it's acceptable to go out in straight sets? No one said aim low....but IF you're gonna aim high...bloody well make sure you've got the goods to back it up or go home.

What did he do?
I think it was the game where Keane swung the ball hit to the pad and rebounded for a soccer goal

Rodan correctly assessed the soccer kick as the goal but failed to see the dent in the goal post - yet the review also failed to see it

LOL No it's not acceptable, but in a year where the top 8 has never been so closely matched, it shouldn't be so shocking to anyone.

Yeah that won't stop the memes or workplace harrassment by the ferals. It's the supporters who have to face that. Players walk off without a care and with their $$$$ because apparently football is a "job" and a "workplace" now.

Reckon it's the Keane ball over the line actually behind the goal post fiasco.

Was it Rodan who ****ed that up?
No it was the video person that couldn’t see the ball smashing into the post.

True about the jealous oppo supporters and mainly suffering Port supporters, but I reckon our players would be devo if we lose.

I'm not ready for our season to be over. The high of 9 straight wins was just yesterday.

If we lose it will be a spectacular choke of AFC proportions.
Hawthorn could have finished 3rd heading into their final game and ended up 8th, they are obviously not the standard 8th ranked team that barely scrapes in most other years. They sat around the top 4 for most of the season.

I don't want our season to be over either, but it's also not a choke if we play well and are just beaten by the better team. It doesn't change our 18 win season and the confidence this will have built up for our group. Brisbane rose from a bottom 4 position in 2018 to 2nd in 2019 and went out in straight sets, certainly didn't dent their confidence and that exposure to finals heartbreak helped them continually improve to be a consistent contender for years.

Adding in the likes of Ah Chee and hopefully a fully fit Sid Draper next year will help too.

I don't think Ah Chee and Draper will move our needle. There's no guarantee we back this season up - Tex will be older and probably only play 10-15 games.

Goes to show how bad Nicks is, 1 (playing at home) vs 8 should not be even money.
Not really sure that is a fair statement, its the closest Top 8 in history, 8th being a team that beat us earlier in the year and only lost to Brisbane and Us in their last 5 games.

We had a good run in, but they are a very good side and they also made finals last year, so have that little bit more experience than our group.

Coaching is key, but player pressure and composure is a bigger factor, but comparing 1st on the ladder to 8th on the ladder this year doesn't mean anything and means even less come finals.

Hawthorn are not a standard 8th ranked side, they could have finished 3rd heading into the final game (which they lost by 10 points) and finished with 15 wins. They weren't scraping into the top 8 like most other 8th ranked sides are and beat the majority of teams in the top 8. Brisbane would have finished 8th if they lost that final game.

Quite clearly every team in the 8 can beat each other on their day and that's been shown with results all season.

If they ended up finishing 3rd after that final game, it wouldn't have been a shock if they knocked off Geelong last week, that's how close this year is.

Exactly, the AFL has been working on equalisation for a while, however what is has done is created a two-tiered competition with a handful of sides split between the two tiers and we quite easily could've been there if the Port, Brisbane and Pies games didn't go our way in those tight finishes.

It's not as simple as 1st vs 8th, nor does ladder position matter in finals, every team is beatable on their day.
And lets hope that tomorrow is our day and not theirs.

I admit i'm not going into this game brimming with confidence. I was more confident both times we played them during the year then I am 1 day out from the Semi Final.

However, I literally picked 4 losses in the first round of finals. Which proves to me that this flag is anyones to win, and winning odds are irrelevant.

I'm going in with hope, not expectation.
