Zero dry Zones. Legendary
It started the week before that, even - the last time we played Hawthorn. We won, which helped paper over the cracks, but we still gave up a 5 goal head start. Good teams don't do that, especially at home.
Scientists, historians and philosophers will spend centuries to come studying and debating exactly how and why the wheels fell off our season in the last 6 weeks after being so good prior to that.
Ultimately, we are mentally weak. When teams being strong defensive pressure against us, we go into full on panic, hack-kicking mode. We need to get the team away on some kind of mind training camp over the off season.

Yeah it’s a waste of this year. Is it backwards or forwards now?
Both finals were easily predicted from the late season home and away match ups. We over performed in the home and away and needed a bit of luck with avoiding the gritty opponents in at least one final. We didn't get that luck.
Puppies are happy, snoring in bed. One across the legs, the other on my hip. Absolute bliss.

We spent all our tickets to finish top.
Had a series of challenging but not ultra hard fixtures in the run home.
Other teams had another gear.
We didn’t.
In fact we regressed.
Hard to trust this club.
At lest in the Neil days it was close.

Both weeks everyone struggled to be in the right place, make the ground to a contest, break away, stick tackles, take marks. Things we had been doing regularly
I have no idea how much if any sickness contributed to this, i hope it was a lot because the alternative is bad
But it certainly appeared that we were beaten tactically. And that the effort and hardness wasnt there, where it had been earlier in the season
I think this is another indictment on the coaches. We never actually made a decision.
Murray started the season because Butts was injured. Butts only came in once Murray got injured. Butts kept his place until he got injured. Murray kept his spot.
We didn’t make a hard call on Butts/Murray and just played the incumbent.

The players had the pre finals bye they weren't fatigued (ignoring any cold/flu).
We made the hard call. We chose Murray.
Imagine if NC had our 2017 forward 6 in 2005/6
Did we? Murray spent 4 weeks in the SANFL until Butts got injured. We chose the incumbent at every opportunity.

They drafted and developed some speedy midfielders and HBs.
I'm so tired of losing so many contests, consequently seeing everyone get sucked into them - then lose anyway and get ripped to shreds on the outside.
We haven't had a decently coached midfield for nearly a decade, or had any top tier midfielders in that time.
Godden and VB have to go, it's proven they cannot develop anything. Where are Jones, Edwards, Ryan, Pedlar etc? If all these first round picks are so shit they can't get a game, someone has to be accountable for that.
Everything good we do seems to come from a moment of individual talent winning out (e.g. Thilthorpe contested marks, Rankine spinning out of a tackle, Rachele hitting a ridiculous soccer, etc). WE can't coach a winning system. Just 'grind it out'. It's total Hinkleyball but even worse.
