Doesn’t each club though technically have 5th, 6th, 7th, etc round picks and the draft stops when clubs stop using their picks?Pick 61 does have potential value, as indeed does their remaining pick 77.
They have no points attached, but under the new bidding rules;
Picks in Rd 1 (10% discount)
Picks 19-36 (84 pts discount)
Pic 37 onwards match with your next selection
Previously it was a 20 per cent discount for first round picks and a flat discount of 197 points for picks outside of the first round.
So in certain scenarios picks 61/77 could have as much 'value' as pick 38.
And taking one of those picks, if that is ultimately the best offer from Collingwood, is certainly preferable to letting Buller walk for nothing, if we are anticipating multiple bids on Academy players

If Curnow comes, surely it's curtains for McLean's chances of being best 22. But I see no rumours about his future.
If nothing else, I hope players and clubs learn something about these stupidly long contracts. If you're going to ask for a stupid long deal, be prepared to tough it out the whole journey. Likewise clubs need to stop offering stupid long contracts then trying to weasel out when the player turns out to be not what you hoped.
Even though I think I'd prefer Charlie came here (price pending), I wouldn't be opposed to Carlton saying to him **** off honour your contract, and Florent saying the same to us by staying. Might teach a few lessons about contract lengths, anything over 4 years for a player, who's not top 25 in comp, is a piss take really.
Taking a step back, and forgetting about whether we like each move or not, it will be quite impressive if the swans land all the coach changes, small forward, medium defender and KPF in one off season.
Proof will be in the pudding but no one could complain that we didn’t make moves to try to improve.
If we contend again, everyone will look back to this off season as the trigger for when it all began.
Don’t think either are in the 23, Curnow/Amartey/McDonald and smalls/mids in the forward line.Ladlams/McLean both fighting for the same spot imo

Amartey can do it, would use the extra bench spot for another runner over a tall and Grundy will play 80% of the game anyway.Chop ruck for Grundy?

Better than a rex huntWhat's a Ken Bruce
Yeah I know he's an injury risk but I think him and Logan are better than McLean/Ladhams as forwards by a significant margin that it's worth using a slightly worse second ruck.Amartey![]()
Regardless we need to try and keep Grundy fresh to capitalize on our improved clearance game under Cox especially if Curnow comes in.
We would have to get rid of players to bring Charlie in. I think we already have to get rid of something to bring in Serong.Really we should've probed with a picks only offer like Geelong did...I would've hoped we'd try the 3 first rounders offer with our better picks before going in with an all chips in offer. Worst they could've said is no and we'd still be where we are now.

Correct. We're already at maximum capacity without bringing in Curnow and Serong. Offering up two players is just clearing the space we need for Charlie and Jai.We would have to get rid of players to bring Charlie in. I think we already have to get rid of something to bring in Serong.
Alternatively, in the unlikely event they accepted (or found it was closer than we were expecting it to be) we could've just waited and not rushed to resign the 3 30+ year olds (some of who showed signs of wear and tear) and made them wait till after trade period before guaranteeing them list spots. We would have to get rid of players to bring Charlie in. I wasn't talking about his thoughts, whether I agree with them or not, or that he's more passionate than any of us. I do think he's more passionate about the Swans than anyone else in the media landscape, so I welcome that completely, regardless of whether I agree with his takes or not. That’s his thoughts not everyone’s. Doesn’t mean he is any more passionate than you or me. Sorry He is passed it. Constantly talks dribble during game commentary on Fox Footy.
Wise words indeed by Gerard Healy. I heard what he had to say and completely agree with him also, he just cut through it and made sense.Dude sounds smarter than out coaching staff. 100% agree, it's a ground ball game and Rowbottom can play a huge role in that.
