There's a genuine argument for it but George has only been good when there's no real Championship pressure. He'd definitely be up there but until he's proven when fighting for a title P2 can go to someone else.
Alonso at 2 still ??There's a genuine argument for it but George has only been good when there's no real Championship pressure. He'd definitely be up there but until he's proven when fighting for a title P2 can go to someone else.
I personally still think it's Alonso but Piastri is probably 2nd to Max right now.

the top drivers all have a bit of beast about them.Haha on the track hes an absolute prick but away from it hes quite funny. Well played.
Yep, fair enough. There's a genuine argument for it but George has only been good when there's no real Championship pressure. He'd definitely be up there but until he's proven when fighting for a title P2 can go to someone else.
It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case.I personally still think it's Alonso
What about the other way around?but Piastri is probably 2nd to Max right now.

Race is at 8pm (Irish time). **** yes. It’s race week again and it’s the first “wake up real early” race for a while after plenty of “stay up real late” races.
There’s something great about COTA but a year without Ricciardo doing something incredibly American to get some headlines will feel somewhat empty.![]()
I still reckon on balance Max is still the best on the grid. It's hard to argue otherwiseYep, fair enough.

3-5 tenths is a massive discrepancy in current F1 and would have him toward the Q1 exit range so despite there being some definite pro-Lando mentality, that is a very very big stretch to imagine. Not sure if I want to watch F1 for the rest of the season as Oscar is seriously going to get stitched up by his own team.
No doubt they are going to mess around with his cars setup so he is always going to be 3-5, 10 tenths off Lando's pace. Not sure if he has his own engineer in the team that could dictate the cars setup to suit Oscar's preferences.

George looks to have signed something for next year but beyond that remains a mystery.

Formula 1: Mercedes to continue with George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in 2026
Britain's George Russell says he wants to build on his "strongest season to date in F1" after signing a new deal to continue racing for Mercedes in 2026.www.bbc.co.uk
It's hard to argue cos there's a world full of idiots out there. But is Verstappen the best?I still reckon on balance Max is still the best on the grid. It's hard to argue otherwise
This is probably the key in all that, how they adapt.same car that's not suited to either driver
Anyway, if they were running in the same team, same car that's not suited to either driver and no favouritism from the team, where is Verstappen getting the edge?
Theres a decent list of guys in that list.I've thought for a long while that Max is the possibly the best driver the sport has ever seen. But there's no metrics for it that we have and after all, how do you compare him to guys like Prost and Senna and Schumacher? Teammates have been able to see where he's faster than them but unable to see how he does it.
I suspect you put him in any car and he's going to make it look better than it is. I suspect that current RBR car is a donkey and he's getting amazing results out of it.
Yes, he's a bit of campaigner on-track, but so were Senna and Schumacher. And he's not exactly the most charismatic off-track and rubs people the wrong way occasionally and his father is a bit of a tool, so people tend to hold those against him when weighing him up against other champions.
It'll probably be something like Lando has to give him a tow in qualy or something.Seems Oscar says Lando has said he took responsibility for the Singapore contact and there will be on track repercussions coming forth… he didn’t go any further..
Or it could be an AI Deepfake.
Was it really a big deal for an F1 champ in his pomp? He's drving a car slower than when he's under the safety car. This is probably the key in all that, how they adapt.
Max is just a freak though, look at what he did in the tin tops a couple of weeks back.
Maybe a few weeks away from saying it's OSCAR!The other question is, if Max isn't the best on the grid, who is?
Based on what?I've thought for a long while that Max is the possibly the best driver the sport has ever seen.
Boring, boring, dull, monotonous, boring efficiency is king. The flashy stuff may be fun, but making driving a racing car look uninteresting is what the great ones actually do.But there's no metrics for it that we have and after all, how do you compare him to guys like Prost and Senna and Schumacher?
