Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Yeah it's really not too bad whe you look at it like that. The 1st rounder in 2027 could end up a lot worse than 21 too.Gonna end up being 11 + 15 + 21 + Hayward for Curnow + 31 + 42 + 30
Initial thoughts. We're pathetic and I'm angry.
There will be no trading in players over the next two years and we are no chance of matching any free agents we have next year. It's all eggs in one basket and a big rebuild coming when Tassie arrive
We've just guaranteed Carlton are a future force in the AFL too
By giving them a couple of role players who turn 28 next year, picks that they're going to use on Dean/Cody Walker bids (that they would’ve obtained from someone else if not us) and then a most likely late 1st rounder in the Tassie draft?Initial thoughts. We're pathetic and I'm angry.

As long as we don't flop in 2027 that will most likely be at worst pick like 18 for coming 10thYeah it's really not too bad whe you look at it like that. The 1st rounder in 2027 could end up a lot worse than 21 too.

Ok so we can still get Max King?Don't have to worry too much if we can match academy bids now
100% a contender, 2 grand finals in 4 years and if you compare our age profile to other teams we have a very high % of best 23 players in their prime.Yeah good summary I think.
And goes back to what I guess my number one issue with our list is - are we a contender or not? So hard to know when we've had such disparate form over the past four years, sometimes looking every bit the top side, other times looking absolutely miles off.
Will the real Sydney Swans please stand up?
God I wish people would stop saying this (even in jest).Atleast we suck at drafting in the first round, so may not be a huge loss there
Oh I meant it could be worse for Carlton if there are some extra academy and F/S shenanigans on top of the Tas concessions. As long as we don't flop in 2027 that will most likely be at worst pick like 18 for coming 10th
So long as none of the smartarse clubs make a stupidly early bid on one of them just to force our hand. I have no confidence that we would call a bluff.Don't have to worry too much if we can match academy bids now

Its gonna be hard to get meaningful picks in the Tassie draft unless you trade for the Tassie picks because it just blows it out of the water so much with 6 of the top 13 being Tassie picks. So we just gotta hope non of our boys are top 5 talentsI am looking at it more so an asset we cannot use for player movement or academy.
Could be a huge year for academy with Cairns, McLennan, Marshall-Orr, Mok and Hardy all looking very, very promising.
A lot of water to go under the bridge but could be some very interesting rammifications*
*of which I will not care about if we win a premiership
Just need them to stay fit.But this means... can someone please please help out Heeney in the mids.
Hopefully Sheldrick makes another leap and seeing Rowy breathing fire after all the reports
That is four first rounders for Curnow with steak knives back.11 + F1 + FF1 + Hayward for Curnow + 31 + 42 + FF2
Not when we get 3 first rounders for Warner in a couple of years time.We definitely paid overs. We need to consider the opportunity cost as well. Trading out 3 first rounders limits our ability to trade for elite talent in the next couple of years. So the swans better be damn sure Curnow was the missing piece otherwise this could be a huge anchor.
There's a gigantic cohort of our list who in my opinion are either completely unproven, unreliable, or inexperienced.
McLean, Sheldrick, Campbell, Jordon, Dattoli, Andrew, Bowman, Rampe (at this stage), Bice, McInerney, Edwards, Hamling, Cleary, Roberts, Warner Jr., Hanily, Snell, Lloyd (at this stage), Green, Rosas Jnr., Serong, King, Carmichael, Chamberlain and Kyle form nearly half the list with little to no evidence that they can meaningfully contribute to a team in serious contention. Jordon & McInerney the best of that group, and even then, the former I wouldn't say meaningfully contributed to a flag tilt yet, and latter is still wildly disparate as a player.
So good and well to say we're all in because we have this great top end, and we've just added another player who will (presumably) be a top-ender in Curnow.
But all it is is a premiership-contending top end, not a premiership-contending list. Nervous times ahead and the more I think on this trade the more it makes me unsure if the club really have a grasp of where this list is actually at, or if they've done a West Coast with Tim Kelly and gone chips-in on the "now" when the "now" isn't really worthy of doing so.
We have a huge number of players coming off-contract in 2027, if the academy is looking really good that year we’ll have plenty of options to get more picks.I am looking at it more so an asset we cannot use for player movement or academy.

I think you're wrong, we will trade out players to bring new ones in.Initial thoughts. We're pathetic and I'm angry.

This sums up how I feel. Not at all Cox's fault that we are where we are list wise but I fear now we may pay a price. That said, I will continue to cheer cheer and hope that the remaining players, including Curnow, put up a damn good showing.God I wish people would stop saying this (even in jest).
How about we bring in recruiters to actually address the issue.
For too long our recruiting/list management has been rubbish, no sign it's changing.
For example if we pick Shanahan in last year's draft and see his development in 2025 would we be giving up Hayward and 3 Firsts for Curnow (and later picks)?
We have mortgaged our future on a 29 KPD with a long well paid contract.
Massive mistake IMO.
Out of the next 3 drafts in the first round.I feel pretty flat. I am NOT pumped to get Charlie at the price we've paid. Waaaayyy too much for mine. Very sad to see Ollie and Will go. Think we've put too many eggs in the Charlie Curnow basket. I do respect that we are trying something to win a flag and not just make a granny but I'm not a big fan of these trades. I'm happier about Rosas than Curnow because of the sour taste of the cost.
