Lindsay's ball drop is also very quick from a low point which helps him to distribute quickly. I'm blown away by not just the accuracy of his kicks, but how perfectly weighted they are. He'll kick it just over an opposition player to a marking point that only his teammate can reach on the lead. He can drill them low and loft them over to hit a target out the back. He also kicks it to space almost forcing his teammates to lead to it. Probably the best vision and kick I've seen from a draftee.
and yet dont some posters say that OB is the best kick in this draft group? Imagine that, and he is def quicker

You may be right. Powell trade was definitely done in trade week. Thought Comben was our natural pick.
Perez and Mahony trades may have been draft night. Maybe that's why we've been gun shy with how that turned out.
Still 2019 is a pretty long gap since we've made any sort of slide on draft night.
End of the day trades for picks mostly mean nothing - if you use them on the right players.

Be fascinating to see whether the clubs keep metrics on how players they rated - including those they didn't get to pick or didn't choose to pick - turn out vs their own picks. They'd probably never be willing to admit any of it to the outside anyway, but they really should be assessing this stuff if they're not. Go back 1, 2, 3, 5+ years down the track and assess how their judgement / ratings panned out even for players they never had access to.

That draft shows me we have been trying to draft a small forward for a very long time. Also our obsession with ACL recruits goes way back.

Goes way, way back to the desperation of the mid Scott years IMO - no access to decent draft picks left us spinning the roulette wheel and gambling on a breakout win to give us that lucky break. House usually wins though and you need to grind out the small wins enough to gamble on big ones.

Lindsay looks like a classy left footer, would be a good get but I wonder if we already have enough def/mids around this height. Is this a need?

do we have enough defenders like him? we have mids that are currently playing as defenders....
No we have 0 that can change angles and receive after identifying an outlet. Hardeman and Goater have the potential but Lindsay could rotations to the wing and into the on ball rotation in the future. Definitely means we can bring Kerch up the ground without losing too much drive.

He looks slow and small to me in the 80 seconds I've seen on liveleak

Kerch, FOS and Sheez all fwd of the ball

Does Ross Lyon have every job at Saint Kilda now?
Grant Thomas' vision for a 1 man football department comes to fruition 20 years later.

Disturbingly despite the low staff numbers, Lyon still has a new harrassment claim lodged against him.

He has a lot of Matt Suckling about him. If we get that sort of player with said pick we would be pretty happy.
Decision making is great, will turn it over in the AFL going for some of those kicks but the trade off will be great.
Reads the play beautifully.
Yeah him and Hardingham off the back flank would be nice.

Keep in mind we'll have two cornerstone defenders for the next ~decade in Comben and Dawson that we absolutely do not want distributing the footy.

Archer is average, Hardeman is great but that comes from the ball going 50m and pretty close to where he intended, Goater's strength isn't his ball use, we definitely want FOS and Kerch predominantly through the middle.

Lindsay (or someone with such skills) bringing the ball out of the goal square and running past for quick hand-offs is a pretty vital need imo.

They don't have a football in their hand during the combine. Lindsays speed might be better with Football in hand - never know.
Lindsay isn’t fast by any means, but football relevant speed and agility is different than what you do in the 20m sprint and agility test. Plus what are your results in those tests during fatigue?
