**** I hope Max wins the title (never thought I’d say that).

McLaren deserve to be caught with their dicks in their hands with the way they’ve conducted themselves this season.

The camera shots of Zac and the McLaren garage if Max wins will be all time.

Yeah i guess, but realistically is there a better option for him out there?

Red Bull: We complain about favoritism now, Piastri on Red Bull would be the current situation on steroids. Max hasnt had a proper competitor as number 2 driver since Ricciardo. Helmut Marko is much worse than Zak Brown. Max would tell Piastri get ****ed every second race

Mercedes: Kimi and George are locked in there, dont see that changing. Think George WDC push comes next year

Ferrari: Pass. Disasterclass

Williams: Maybe.. but I still think they're a ways off consistently challenging for podiums, let alone race wins

Aston: Stroll isnt getting replaced, Alonso could maybe but they havent shown much either. Bit like Williams

Like it or not, he's not getting a better shot at wins or titles anywhere else.

I dont think Mercedes are locked in or they wouldn't have spent all year dithering over signing George. But Webber needs to wait until the new regs next year to see who is the best winning car to move Oscar to.

Think he's made this comment because Lando was affected, mainly. It's such an enormous strategic blunder.
not so sure about that. while he's clearly in norris's corner generally speaking, on this occasion, i do think he recognises oscar was the one most adversely affected.

good to see the acknowledgement. but the stuff-up adversely affected oscar way more than norris.

Ferarri ****ing loving this drama. All this shit shows from them in recent years.

Given that it's almost impossible for Oscar now, I genuinely hope Max wins the title. McLaren can go home and cry into their Constructors Championship.

Just staggeringly dumb from them, there were mandatory pit-stops, on a wide open track where safety car incidents are less prevalent.

Ineptitude personified.
A free pit stop that did not cost them anything except their golden boy Lando losing the title, and that is exactly why it happened.

They could have easily double stacked and still come out of the stop 1-2. It was nothing more than McLaren being a bunch of dumb campaigners.

That's a stretch.

Ferrari would give anything to have multiple major strategy stuff ups and yet having sown up the constructors' championship and both of their driver's a chance of winning the championship with just one race remaining.

Trouble for McLaren is that they have a team principal who doesn't know how to manage two evenly matched championship winning capable drivers and has come up with a BS strategy called 'Papaya Rules' which was never going to stand up to scrutiny when push came to shove in such a competitive sport.

I think a small part of it would have been McLaren being worried that their pit-stops have been extremely hit and miss this year... There was theoretically plenty of time for a double stack

The strategy is BS by design.

McLaren (well, Brown at least) has a clear #1 driver. Stella appears to be more balanced, he's focused on the best result for McLaren. Joseph is (by employment role) focused solely on Norris, whilst Stallard seems focused only on what's best for McLaren. There's no-one really working FOR Oscar. It's actually a thorn in the side of McLaren their #2 is so good (equal, or even arguably better than Norris).

Papaya rules are there simply to ensure they don't advantage Oscar over Norris. When Norris benefits, there is no need to call in "Papaya rules".

Just watched the replay of the Lap 8 Pitstops for the first time and Mercedes and Ferrari both Double Stacked! Idk this because I was too busy watching the last 10 laps this morning; damn useless McLaren!!!

They only dithered over signing George cause Max's future was uncertain amid all the drama with Horner etc....
Think they'll back George over Oscar tbh

The lead car gets the choice of strategy and when to pit. Oscar should have been given the option to pit, not told to stay out.

Telling Lando to also stay out in the guise of 'being fair to both drivers'...no, it's being unfair to Oscar by denying him a choice he had earned as lead car.

This wasn't "racing to win" as Zak so often says. It was a decision based on how to limit WDC damage for the benefit of Lando, and if that meant sacrificing a race win...an Oscar win...then so-be-it.

I can’t help but feel that from what I’ve seen this year, Papaya Rules is only out into effect when Lando stands to benefit.
I’ve been watching F1 since the 70s, and I have never seen a team swap drivers in a team during a race because one of them had a slow pitstop, nor have I ever seen a team constantly work to get the guy in second in the WDC ahead of his teammate when that teammate is leading the WDC comfortably. McLaren are a joke and I hope max wins the WDC if Oscar can’t.
