Fair chance whoever takes this list on has at least 1 year of poor results ahead of them, possibly more.

Daisy Pearce deserves better than to be tossed off the glass cliff. I hope she can become the first female AFL coach, but it'd be cruel for it to be Essendon.

The reality is that Essendon has now failed under a variety of coaches. Some with great pedigree, others pretty ordinary, but it's clear that our problems cannot just be the coach. We'll turf Brad Scott this year and his resume before he came to Essendon was pretty solid: consistently overperformed at the Roos given the team's talent.

Changing the coach won't be the silver bullet. Our problems run deep, they are generational, and it'll require everyone at the club doing the right things for many years to fix. With a lack of quality onfield leaders and quality players in general, we will be very bad over the next few years and, if we aren't, then there's a good chance that we've taken shortcuts in a desperate bid to 'win now' (which has been our modus operandi for the past two decades).
