I'm not a big Hrovat fan, but he's done what we've all been saying players should do - performed at VFL level. He therefore deserves to replace any of a number of players not performing at AFL level. For balance, it would appear to be Turner or Simpkin.
Nah not for me. Played well enough on saturday, early on was a lot better, but granted he did play well. Barely sighted last week in the last of the praccy games. Yes I am aware of the difference, but 1 week running around in the middle should not see him snag an AFL forward spot. IMO. Zurhaar would be the better option. Again, imo.

Nor should it.

Only supercoach mentalities would even suggest it.
You should compare Turner to other small forwards in the comp so you can see how average he actually is.

We’re ****ed in this game to . Do what ever .. meh whatever..

If Macmillan plays I want us to lose

I want us to win every game irrespective who is playing or who is coaching. Not sure how a North supporter can desire us to lose.

Sack the coach!

Rd4

Out: McDonald, Tyson, Turner, Campbell, Thompson, Macmillan

In: Ahern, Anderson, Wright, Murphy, Larkey, Taylor

B: Wright, Tarrant, McKay
HB: Atley, Pittard, Murphy
C: Dumont, Cunnington, Polec
R: Goldstein, Ahern, Anderson
HF: Higgins, Ziebell , Hall
F: Larkey, Brown, Thomas
I: Scott, Taylor, LDU, Simpkin

INJ: Jacobs, Daw, Garner, EVW, Wood, Durdin, Williams

6 changes? The team bus could go off a cliff and he wouldn't make 6 changes.

Cos it means brad goes and so to Macmillan

If he is too stupid to drop him then this is the result

We played Goldy for 2 years where instead of playing like a multi-dick ruckman he was playing like a bag of dicks. We played LT for 3/4 of a season despite him missing goals from the goal square. We would have to suck arse for a very long period of time for us to drop a leader or sack the coach.

Going to be a realist here. I think we all know that Macmillan and Mcdonald arn't getting dropped as much to most dismay, although i thought mcdonald did well this week. Also thinking anderson and wright will come back. the fact that they were both selected in the hawks game squad when returning means they're already close, they now have gotten game time as well. In saying all this my changes:

In: Anderson, Wright, Larkey,
Out: Thomas, Turner, Campbell,
FB: Wright - Tarrant - Thompson
CHB: Pittard - Mckay - Atley
C: Polec - LDU - Dumont
R: Goldstein - Higgins - Cunnington
CHF: Hall - Larkey - Anderson
FF: Simpkin - Brown - Ziebell
Int: Macmillan Tyson Scott Mcdonald
Would love Ahern to play ahead of tyson aswell but cant see that happening. I'm not sure if they'd drop turner but was thinking with him being on the bench last week he was possibly in the gun and space needs to be made for anderson. The only other possible way would be if mckay went out for wright meaning turner would stay.

In: Ahern Larkey
Out: Simpkin McDonald

Team:
FB: Pittard Tarrant Thompson
HB: Atley McKay Macmillan
C: Polec LDU Higgins
HF: Scott Larkey Hall
FF: Turner Brown Ziebell
R: Goldstein Cunnington Ahern
I: Thomas Tyson Dumont Campbell

We need to give LDU and Ahern 80-85% ToG in the guts. This is the future of our midfield, Thomas and Scott to play more prominent midfield roles from 2020 onward but should rotate in the middle.

Simpkin needs to go to the VFL and focus on being a dangerous/effective goal scoring smaller forward.
McDonald needs to find something he is good at and should probably join the carpentry group if he hasn't already.

Larkey is a FF but we can't have Brown push down the ground and have no target to go to with a longer ball. Adelaide have good taller defenders so we can't blaze forward with high hang time long kicks, we need to create space in the forward 50 and we need to put some good short-range kicks to our forwards, if we are going to win, we will need to get a lot out of the smaller forwards, but at times we are going to need our key forwards to compete.

Anderson and Wright were eased into it at VFL level, they need to be able to go hard at VFL level before playing at AFL level. The reality is if Wright comes in, it will likely push Atley forward as Brad wont drop Macmillan.

The fact that we didn't drop them to help them regain form is the reason we are in this shit mess currently.

Brad Scott is a terrible coach, he was saved by some brilliant performances from a small number of players over the years.

The below underperformed for a long time.
Goldy
Turner
Simpkin
Lmac
Jmac
Atley.
Hrovat
Clarke

How many players can you just "back in" all year long?
Then suddenly he tells a player like Ahern to work on his defensive skills.

Sending players to the VFL to find form and confidence, is something Brad Scott doesn’t understand.
Not rewarding players who are showing something at VFL level, is also something he doesn’t understand.

im glad there has been a bit of media attention on him this week, although not enough.

Also what the hell is Judd on about defending Brad Scott, i used to rate his opinion.

Is Scott waiting for his Tampa moment..

I think it is a bit harsh on Atley, he was playing good footy at half-forward last year and during the pre-season this year. Brad has decided to **** him again by playing him down back despite years of evidence that he was an ordinary defender.

I don't know what happened to Macmillan this year, he was never any good as a defender, but he used to be an important cog in terms of our run out of the backline, he has just gone off a cliff this year, he couldn't hit the side of a barn for some odd reason.

I think we have good quality youth, bit disappointed Walker will take longer to recover, he showed a lot of promise from his games last year. Curtis Taylor also looking pretty good, combined with Scott, Thomas, LDU and Ahern we just have no reason to be playing out of form mid/flank players. Especially given we have also included Polec, Hall, Pittard and Tyson. I think the first three have been a success to date, I think Tyson will take longer to gel with the other mids.

Our game plan is too convoluted for kids, when you look at the way Port, Brisbane, Fremantle, Hawks, Eagles, etc play they can run a lot of kids through their team as long as their form is good, Brad has developed a lack of one-on-one accountability, it is why we suck at center bounce clearances without the likes of Jacobs and Anderson making up for everyone else who have a mediocre defensive side in the middle, why our defense has always relied on 7+ people clogging space because we suck at killing a high ball contest.

We need a lot more one-on-one accountability and the players who can't compete need to be phased out of the team rather than build a convoluted game plan to wallpaper over the cracks which isn't intuitive to younger players.

Wat are you anticipating this week Tas?

Will the game plan evolve or disappear?

Maybe they all should go Bowling and have beers tomorrow night?

OUT: Campbell & Thomas (A taste of a game at home & one at the G should fuel the fire. Now let him find his feet in the VFL for a month)

IN: Larkey & Ahern.

Edit: forgot about Jed. If he is actually good to go, maybe a swap for Tyson.

We are basically the St Kilda of 2018 right now. They have turned it around now without any personnel or coaching change as such.

Complete myth.

They hired objective outsiders in Simon Lethlean as football boss and James Gallagher as list manager. Added a very experienced senior assistant in Brett Ratten to the coaching group.

On top of that they added Brendon Lade and Jake Batchelor to their coaching group also.

Outside of sacking the head coach they've added a new football manager, new list manager, new senior assistant coach and 2x new assistant coaches in the course of 12 months.

Pretty extensive changes actually.

Edit: and hired Gubby Allan full-time. So basically a complete revamp of the football staff!!

Meanwhile on the Crows board...

I think this game is inconsequential if we go with Don's back em in 22. A win with it justifies his no changes in his mind for another 5 to 10 weeks regardless of win loss. If we make 4 or 5 changes as needs to happen and we win with those changes having an impact, the win will be worth something. A win also means Carlton gets a slightly worse pick which is positive but developing our team for the future needs to be the overarching goal.
