Thoughts on Paul Curtis at the Jets and Anthony O'Sullivan at the Knights?
In reply to your query, i had to go through my match books, and found 1 game of notes on Paul Curtis, it was an u/16 metro v country game.
That game i had to do notes on 13 players
Some of the notes on Paul were that: he moved well through traffic, very slight build, multi-positional, skills by hand ok, not great by foot, goes in hard, instinct to tackle and not watch excellent, not strong enough yet defensively in 1v1, high half fwd better spot??.
That is all i had under his name that day. Mind you, that is now almost 2 years ago. Have not seen him this year, and we know what happened last year.
As for O'Sullivan i dont think i have witnessed a game of his from memory. I do not have any notes on him, that's not to say i haven't seen him, but i may have been tracking others that day if he was playing.

Any information about Jai Serong , Apparently 194cm 85kgs a fair bit bigger than his brother
Has some AFL traits, can move well and position himself well in a contest and break from a contest. Not the best by hand or foot but by far not the worst. Extremely athletic in a Noah Balta type mold (since you are a Richmond fan), and also similar in the way they both can be used as a utility around the ground.

Certainly not a plug and play type in any one position yet but as i said earlier has AFL type traits.

In medical terms, doctors are general practitioners - good in all areas, and specialists are exceptional in one area. Jai seems to be currently studying to become a doctor, i would like to see him become a specialist somewhere on the ground instead and then learn the craft and mold his game to be useful in other areas. With his growing stature and athleticism being either stationed at CHB or CHF for this year and learn to dominate and play that position would be a great notch on his belt.

Most kids drafted have a position, and when drafted the club will teach them other roles if that's where they require them or see that their future lies, and Jai does not have 1 defined role down pat yet.

I would like to see him 'known' for something and not just a general practitioner.

However.... if he builds a tank he could be a great mid/wing option too, not too dissimilar to a Charlie Ballard type, someone with the athleticism and tank to run the wings, good in the air and at ground level, can be useful down back as coverage and can swing down into the fwd half to become a dangerous option.
He will be an interesting watch this year not only in terms of game growth but body growth as well.

Sinn has fallen off a cliff last few months, I remember him being talked of top 5 in this draft.
In my eyes he has many traits to be a top 5 pick and have an extremely high ceiling and come the end of the year he still may be a top 6/7 pick, but, as i said (in my eyes), i don't like the fact that he cannot seem to consistently win contested ball and his disposal efficiency is not up there yet for me to have him higher. He shouldn't be dropping on my board as much as he has, but others are playing better in their roles at the moment and have to be promoted up the board. He has not dropped here due to his form but rather due to others showing more (in their roles).

Which is absolutely fair enough. Your spot on a draft board is not guranteed to stay where it is unlike the top contenders, gotta be consistent as there will be players that will move up so you gotta make sure you are doing everything to stay amongst the best.

correct, and if i was to do a mock draft, it would be very different to this board list.

Sam Darcy is 204+ almost 205. I am hoping he keeps developing as a FB but he may well be better as a ruck.

I heard from someone who was there that he was pretty dominant on the weekend, 4 goals with one being an impressive ground ball get and snap in traffic, as well as some strong marking around the ground. Well over 200cm too.

Like those rankings from a Richmond POV given our draft hand at this stage. Given we currently have picks 11, 16, 27 & 30 we'd hopefully be able to give the list a good refresh

My Favorites
I'm going out on a limb here to give my personal favorites.
It is not a ranking system (i dont care where they go in terms of draft pick number).
It's merely an exercise in mentioning who I personally like, as players, eligible for the draft later this year.

BLAYNE O'LOUGHLIN - 173-74 - one touch - silky - multi positional
HUGH STAGG - 180-80 - tough - attacks hard - tackles hard - multi-positional
FINN CALLAHAN - 189-82 - lovely mover - great skills
JOSH GIBCUS - 195-84 - interceptor - good 1v1 - rebounder
CAMPBELL CHESSER - 186-83 - clever - moves well - positioning
JOSH FAHEY - 186-78 - runs through the lines - gains meters - attacks hard
MATT ROBERTS - 183-81 - bull - clearance king - tackles hard
ARLO DRAPER - 185-71 - clever - finds goals - good hands
LEWIS RAYSON - 182-69 - speed - efficiency - breaks the lines
MATT JOHNSON - 191-80 - mid bull - great hands - smooth mover

My two equal favorites overall are Hugh Stagg and Josh Gibcus as i love the way both go about their
business in their respective roles, and their development this year is showing their potential

What have your thoughts been on the three WA boys? I notice none of them made your top 40?

What have your thoughts been on the three WA boys? I notice none of them made your top 40?
Jesse is showing a bit, needs to get up higher on the ground and use his skills and ball delivery better, can kick goals but isn't showing enough defensive pressure or tackling enough for me to get excited about him yet.
Taj is going well, but i just don't know what it is about him that has any standout potential. His game, from my point of view anyway, is vanilla.
Corey tackles hard and goes in hard but lacks any speed or 'nous' to spread from packs therefore is not used properly in game to create opportunities for his team going forward. he, out of the three of them has the better game but needs to learn running patterns and 1%'s to help his team. Can kick goals and win contested which is good but its his uncontested work that needs polish.
So far, to this point in the year, all three may get drafted, i see Motlop as a chance in the national, mid-late range, Taj and Corey more likely rookie sides of things 'unless' they can pick up areas of their game that show deficiencies.
But yeah, as of yet, none of the 3 are showing me anything to suggest they are in my top 40. Even though i have said these things about each of their games, i see Motlop as a chance to break in if he can show some better def pressure and tackle more, his one touch skills are what clubs want, he just needs to round out his game.
Its funny as this is reminding me of Kosi Pickett, i was saying how skillful he was and his one touch skills are amazing and had him well entrenched in my top 20 all year, then into my top 15 later that year and was getting laughed at but look at him now.

All good points. Tend to agree with you from what I’ve seen and read. Warner can rack up disposals but I am not sure he has matured into a real team player. I feel there is a lot of pressure on his shoulders- maybe knowing his brother came from nowhere and was a massive bolter in his draft year and Corey trying to do the same. And he plays with this desperation as the 19’s squad will be named soon and there’s limited chances to be seen especially with him not playing Colts. Plus I think WA has a good crop of bigger midfielders which makes it harder for him but thats probably the same every year. Motlop was better last year than this year I reckon. But I agree- he needs to show consistency and showcase his talents each week. I heard he has been playing more through the midfield so maybe thats why he hasn’t been kicking big bags but he may have to go forward and remind people how good he is as I don’t think he’ll get drafted as a midfielder.
Vanilla is an interesting way to describe Woewodin. Highly skilful but maybe doesn’t translate in a game.

By vanilla what i mean is, yes he is skillful, and has a good game, but he is like a Doctor and not a specialist.
He is good in all areas of his control but not great in any one.
Nothing in his game stands out to me and screams 'further potential' or higher ceiling can be reached.

This too, is, and sounds, a bit unfair on a young kid with probably plenty of development left in his maturity in the game, but im just trying to explain it from my point of view as to what i see on field. I hope for him that im wrong.
However we are just talking about this not even halfway through his year. Let's see how he goes for the rest of it, he may surprise.

Yes I actually agree with you. There is no real point of difference with taj and even potentially with all three of them. For each one of them there is probably another 5 kids like that across the country. You need to be a standout in at least one area and not sure which area it is for these three. Best find it quickly or else the 19’s will slip by without them in it. It may be halfway through the year but it is closing in on the most important part of the year. They may be named in the 19’s squad (maybe) but not convinced they’ll be in the team who travels.

i do like things about Farmers game, but is far from being anywhere near my top 40, and needs to work on his body. Luke i liked the look of last year and this year he is going ok too but he needs to find a position. His kicking needs improvement and some decision making too but he definitely needs to nail down 1 position first, i think he would be best served down back. Jye is proving a good forward foil but defensively lacks a bit, does have plenty of upside showing, and yes he is having a good year.

You haven’t seen Harry andreneco play have you...
