How good is bringing up Uyghurs.
Who cares what the conversation's even about.

"Jeez, did you hear about Chris? Someone broke into his ute last week, stole a bunch of tools he needed for his apprenticeship."

"YEAH WELL WHAT ABOUT THE ****ING UYGHURS MATE, WHY DIDN'T YOU CARE THIS MUCH WHEN CHINA DID A GENOCIDE?!?!?!"

:drunk::drunk::drunk:
It's entirely relevant because it proves that people don't actually have any issues with ethnic groups being victims of 'genocide'(which Gaza isn't a victim of, BTW), they only have an issue when it involves Jews.

I don't think the IDF taking out Hamas is the issue most people have had with this whole operation.

That may be, but when Hamas operates out of hospitals and apartment buildings and tunnels all through out the Strip, when it comes to tragic collateral damage, the fault lies with Hamas

And if that was solely and specifically what they were doing, I dare say most people wouldn't have an issue with their actions.

There will tragically be civilian lives lost in any war, especially when one side's army deliberately hides in civilian settings

Actually, it proves something completely different, ie that people tend to pick and choose their focus for causes. More often than not personal investment determines the level of interest.

It's why, for instance, a terrorist attack in the USA would attract far more publicity here than a similar event in, say, Sudan. Or a natural disaster in the UK would similarly attract more publicity than a similar event, again in an obscure African nation.

Israel has been front and centre in this country's consciousness for decades, of course their involvement in a genocide (or if you don't like that term, we'll say mass slaughter of civilians) is going to attract far more interest than if a similar event occurs in less prominent parts of the world.

And none of the above means that people don't care about terrorism, natural disasters or mass killing.

That's just an apology for Israel's atrocities.
The apologists look like the ones who only make noise about the conflict where the Jews are involved.
Wrong. It means that people pick and choose the issues they focus on. See my subsequent post to explain.

You are just desperate to make it about people supposedly hating Jews, to deflect from Israel's behaviour.

Absolute rubbish. Mossad's headquarters is in the middle of Tel Aviv. By that logic, Israel uses its population as human shields.

"One side's army" 🙄

What army? Hamas has its Al-Qassam Brigades, but they're no army, they're a militant group.

I don't know if you're deliberately framing this "war" as something other than an asymmetric assault by a nuclear-armed nation against an occupied people, or whether you're that ignorant that you genuinely believe what you are saying, but you need to stop being intellectually dishonest either way.

Or I'm pointing out the protesters are all Anti-Semitic.

Note how I said all the protesters.

They all look like the typical mix of Islamists and Left leaning hacktivists.

So Israel should have done what after October 7?

Send in all the AFL mascots ?

This is such a shit take lol.

The United Nations commission has found that Israel has committed genocide, why do you say this is wrong?

There are differences in every war, or trampling of human rights. I get that.

Many people, seemingly yourself included, care about the unnecessary deaths of certain children bombers in their beds, but not about other children bombed in their beds.

The difference seems to be the involvement of Jews (or Israel).
You're just making things up and running away with it.

The reason for the protests is precisely because Israelis are treated by western governments as if they are above even international law. They can kill 100s of children, then walk into our society with full protection.

If anyone else did that, they either wouldn't step foot in the country or they'd be arrested there and then.

We're then scolded for criticising literal murderers.

The only one treating Israelis differently are Zionist. The rest of us are applying exactly the same rules that apply to everyone else.

The “You can’t get mad about this bad thing because other bad things also happen” making their intellectually serious argument.

Who said you can’t get mad? You’re free to do what you want.

Just as others are able to question why you’re selectively mad about one “genocide” but couldn’t give a stuff about another.

Or why didn't you give a **** about the Genocide of Christians in the Middle East that's been going on for decades 🙂

Getting Chit to crunch the numbers it looks like it's been far more successful than anything in Palestine.
That's a nice fallacy of relative privation you've got there.

I outlined the reasons for that in post #162.

And it's got nothing to do with "not giving a stuff" about certain genocides.

Because the UN are a laughable organisation who only outputs what their largest donors want them to.

Case in point: despite the Chinese systematically destroying Uyghur culture/people and inferring hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of them on concentration camps, the UN only pays lip service to 'fears' about crimes against humanity and still doesn't label it a genocide.

They seemed awfully quick to label Israel's retaliation for October 7 one though.

It's a bit naive to think that wasn't done solely for political reasons when there's real genocides going in that doesn't attract any attention whatsoever.
