Who is in charge? Israel or US?

(It's likely BS, as several reports as it was happening had mentioned that Israel's bombing of South Pars gas fields was with US approval.)

The day after the U.S. intel chief resigned and blamed Israel for lobbying we get this beauty of a rant from Trump further throwing Israel under the bus.

Does this qualify as the most shambolic military “alliance” in history?

Guaranteed, every day, Bibi calls Trump and says "we have intelligence that they will capitulate if we just do one more attack today, then everything will be fine"
"Ok, Bibi"
" Good boy, reek"

Qatar and the other gulf states complained to Trump and Israel is left laughing.

Trump is the dumbest world leader since the inbreeding in Europe.

You make some good points. I did listen to one very experienced military tactician and trainer who had modelled multiple scenarios regarding Iran ( I’ll try and post a link). He suggested that the U.S. and Israel lost control of the nuclear situation in Iran during last year’s attack on the nuclear facility. He pointed out that the U.S. and Israel knew exactly where the nuclear materials were being stored and therefor could monitor things but Iran, acting on intelligence, moved a lot of it prior to the bombing and now they have absolutely no idea where most of it is. In other words they made the situation less secure.
Which may be the reason why Israel coerced the USA to start yet another bombing campaign in the region

The US bombed Kharg Island and Trump is considering capturing it, in his words.

"Seldom in warfare does an enemy provide you a single target like Kharg Island that could dramatically alter the outcome of the conflict," he wrote on X. "He who controls Kharg Island controls the destiny of this war."

Kharg Island handles 90% of Iran's oil exports. It would cause severe harm to Iran's economy, but there is a good reason nobody has ever done this. If Iran cannot use the Strait of Hormuz to export oil, they have no reason to allow anybody else to do so.

As Sun Tzu explained, you never back an a foe into a situation where they have no escape, onto "Death Ground", forcing them to fight with maximum intensity to survive.

They are already mining the strait and can cover the minefield with fire so that it cannot be cleared. They can increase the mine laying until its basically impassable to anybody they do not allow though. The only way to open it would then be to invade the Iran coast side of the strait.

It will come as no surprise that Trump is a fool, taking war advice from Fox.

The US gains nothing from taking Kharg Island. Its in the gulf, not the straight, so it has nothing to do with Hormuz being open or not. It's also a transport facility not an oil field, so controlling it doesn't get you control over any more oil. Until Iran turns the pipes on, its doing nothing whether the US controls it or not. It's also not much of a bargaining chip because it's worthless to anyone but Iran and can only be returned in the end anyway. It also doesn't give anyone any military advantages.

But taking it does expose whoever is put there to constant drone and missile attacks.

It would be a disaster, but sadly that's not enough to rule it out because taking it would be great content for the tik tok war.

From the UN Statistics Division.
  • Rising conflicts and violent organized crime persist around the world, causing immense human suffering and hampering sustainable development. The number of forcibly displaced people reached an unprecedented 120 million in May 2024. Civilian casualties in armed conflicts surged by 72 per cent in 2023.
  • Corruption continues to divert resources from sustainable development, with one in five people reporting being asked to pay or having paid a bribe to a public official in the last 12 months. With one third of prisoners unsentenced worldwide, achieving just judicial processes and improving prison conditions is imperative.
According to a special investigation by the UN into the Russia/Ukraine conflict 3% of the deaths have been civilians. Estimates of civilian deaths in Gaza seem to vary according to different sources but it’s around 80% to 90%. Of course some of these deaths in Gaza can be attributed to Hamas.
According to the Iran Health Institute, in the current Iran crisis, 40% of deaths so far have been civilians caught between three seemingly brutal regimes including their own. I doubt this figure includes the protesters who lost their lives though.

Breaks one’s heart.

How do you guys see this playing out is there an end in sight?
If you asked me this time last week, I'd have predicted a TACO by close of play tomorrow. Honestly unsure now; looks like Trump might need to dig even deeper to extract something meaningful out of this.... it has been an epic blunder so far and I think he's presently beyond the zone of sellable off-ramp.

Not a good time to be a fascist dictator.

If the end result is Putin / Khamenei / Bibi taken out and no more Orange Mussolini that would be a huge win for all.

Only if the leadership of Israel and the United States are slaughtered as well. They all deserve the death sentence.

A lucky escape for Russia Today journalist Steve Sweeney, targeted by Israeli forces in Lebanon during a live cross

Disturbing footage appears to show an airstrike narrowly missing a journalist in Lebanon.

At the last moment, Sweeney ducks out of frame, and within a split second, an explosion is seen behind him, knocking him and his cameraman over. Following the blast, Sweeney could be heard shouting in shock, "F--king hell."

"Sweeney and his cameraman are conscious in the hospital, and doctors are diagnosing the extent of shrapnel damage," said editor-in-chief of Russia Today, Margarita Simonyan, on X. "War journalists are not legitimate targets. We pray for them."

Sweeney said an Israeli Defense Forces plane fired upon a car carrying Steve and his cameraman while they were crossing a bridge, said Simonyan.

RT News called the strikes "deliberate," however, there has been no immediate comment from Israeli authorities...

its definitely on both sides. I watch both and the amount of times ive seen captions as Trump destroys term, Trump on deathbed, Trumps term terminal etc and lol its nothing. I hate Trump as much as the next person but there is too many people fighting for views on youtube thats for sure.

In what way was Qatar an ally?

They tried to keep Iran on-side to avoid what's happening now, but Qatar have always been more closely aligned with the USA than with Iran.

That's why Iran is attacking them.

I think it's been fairly commonplace albeit a touch ignorant, that the average joe assumed up until recently that the arab/middle eastern states are somewhat aligned....it's becoming patently clear that it is heavily divided and fractured. Iran has few legitimate allies. Id even suggest that Russia and China really dont GAF about Iran at all. Iran's only legit allies are its tentacles in other Arab states. Their isolation is however to some extent their own doing though not completely.

Yeah, it is very easy to make a strong argument that the US is to blame for the whole situation in the first place. It is also very easy to make an argument that they have committed war crimes in the current action and that they have, in general, completely ballsed things up. But as you say the nuclear issue did get out of hand and action has had to be taken (and no doubt bundled up with less honourable motives)
