Autopsy Autopsy Vs Wet toast - it was nice while it lasted

As we approach Easter, so we get shades of the Good Friday debacle last year, apparently. Or at least, the same complete lack of defensive effort. How many times in the middle quarters did one release handball see 3-4 West Coast players running unopposed goalside of a stoppage? Or they clear the ball from our defensive 50 with ease while our players walk nonchalantly because they're too tired from faux-tough tussling the moment before?

One of the main reasons last week looked different from previous false dawns was how professional it was - the opposition get a bit of momentum so we shift gears and put in the defensive work to get the game back on our terms, that's fundamentally different and more promising than jagging a couple of wins via opportunistic flurries. After quarter time tonight, I thought West Coast genuinely looked pretty capable themselves, but that shouldn't be a problem for a professional team with a handy buffer on the scoreboard to repel... but until we're genuinely, consistently accountable both ways for weeks on end, that's still not us, sadly.

Last week didn’t prove North was really good, this week doesn’t prove they are terrible. Need to see more like last week’s smart thinking and skill execution and effort in the next couple of games.

I think what was frustrating was the lack of front and centre in the Second quarter that got them back into the game.

All forwards up and none down or in the front and off goes the rebound goal/score

Centre square personnel at times is baffling

They also had some of the injured ghosts from last year back so that straightened them up structurally. If they stay on the Park they might be more competitive than when they had half their List out for most of 2025.

Next time Smarmy Reid don’t take a last minute side step into a player and then lie on the ground wondering what happened.

It was a loss; no worse than any others we’ve had the past 5 years. The hysteria on the first few pages…wow

Can’t wait to hear Charlie yuck about that 3/4 time free on the siren on his pod.

Great content.
That one costs us a goal

The kick from Cripps that went 4 metres was a goal

Archer Reid from the boundary in the first quarter

They could not have kicked better for goal if they tried

Stop being so damn reasonable already.

At one stage I called out which Eagles player goalside of the contest was going to get the ball, when it was thrown up. 5 times in a row it happened. That's inexcusable if I can see on TV where the exit will be, but they can't fix it.

We beat a completely shithouse Port by a handful of goals and reckoned we were good enough to go in unchanged with better players waiting in the wings, don't worry about the fact that a handful of guys contributed next to nothing. Just pathetic complacency. Our 2-years undefeated AFLW side still finds players to drop when a better option comes back from injury.
Agree. Selection told a real story. Too arrogant and didn't have the guts to make a hard call that was there:

  • Lmac was solid after limited prep. Looked slow and tired today.
  • Blamires was solid as well.

Neither of these guys and a few others is even close to the player Hardeman is. There is no way the team that rolled out last week is so good that they deserve to go in unchanged just because they torched Port.

Until we are willing to drop players like LMac, Daniel, JK and Simpkin, we will continue and always be, an unserious club.

Heads should roll after a performance like that but I fear, that won't be the case and it'll be rinse and repeat and backing the same players that continue to not deliver, just like the Brad Scott days

Comben should be made an example of.
Dropped for that third quarter free.
It was selfish, stupid, undisciplined and costly.
You CANNOT let players do stuff like that. Doesn't matter who they are.
Show some balls and stand for something.

Beating * won't prove anything, they're in worse shape than us at the moment. So losing to them would probably see me check out.

It's result vs expectation. If West Coast played like that last year, we'd chalk it up to a freak result; they were garbage last year. This year, it's just an exposure of the fact we're still in our pit of unaccountable shit. And that's quite upsetting

How can we be ambushed when we got out to a 5 goal lead? More like we ambushed them and they decided not to roll over
This side still doesn’t get the concept of momentum. A good side would have slowed that game when West Coast got a run on, instead these brain dead idiots double down and keep playing kick it quick to nothing to keep feeding their energy.

All we needed to do was play some possession football in the second quarter to kill that momentum.

Cam Zurhaar gets the shithouse medal here. More concerned with winning the punch-on with Harley Reid than winning the footy.
This is correct 👍 Clarkson should be dropping 1-2 players every week and giving guys showing promise a chance, it sends a message to all the players that they can’t take their spot for granted, they have to fight for it every time they play. As soon as I saw ‘unchanged’ I went uh oh but trusted his judgement, not now, make them ducking earn it FFS 🤦

I am flying down from Singapore in June for the rematch, we better put up a better performance
You know that you can get your user name changed, usually you have to pay the chief some cash but I reckon it’s possible he will take pity on you and he may even do it for free.

Once logue went down, it was apparent within about five minutes that the McDonald v Waterman matchup was terrible, and yet we persisted.

West coast played far better than Essendon did today and last week. Wouldn’t be surprised if they take a small step up on the ladder.

**** me the umpiring was appalling. We had a couple shockers in our favour, but there must have been ten bizarre decisions that went against us.

Our midfield set up after q1 was really strange.

Weirdly, not as depressed about the result as I thought I’d be, all things considered.

Waterman kicked 1.3? Luke did a decent job given the size and strength difference. Absolutely not the issue today.
