Not giving Blamires his spot back and retaining Powell is disgusting.

I’d play Blamires ahead of Powell, McDonald, Duursma and Dov at a bare minimum.

We are severely under valuing his run across his first five games.
Pfft.

As if anyone in here knows what they’re talking about…

Powell rates 2/10 for defensive transition running - slow and without a tank and he gets himself out of position. Lachie Whitfield just ran past him from deep in defence repeatedly - one time Powell wasn't concentrating and the others he couldn't keep up.

Absolutely kills our full ground defence, may as well be 17 plays 18. GWS took full advantage.

Being such a liability he needs to bring something special to make up for it, but he's not. How he never gets dropped - especially ahead of one of our best defensive runners - is perplexing.

Holmes going to kill us if Powell is on him, as he’s been playing half back. If not it’s fine, they have no other runners off half back.

Look. If it was me I would’ve dropped Corr ahead of Pink and dropped Powell for Blamires. :stern look

I would like to see Hardeman in the seniors sooner rather than later. :stern look

I’m assuming the rationale is stability. That’s fair enough. However, Blamires is stiff. Basically, we’re sending out the team that almost got over the line against GWS + Charlie. It’s a coherent approach, at least. You’d have to think Tom Powell is using up all his 9 lives. However, let’s not forget he was flavour of the month for a reason back in his first season…

It's like match committee is saying close enough is good enough which is disappointing. Don't understand why Blamires isn't in. It's almost like it's back to the Brad Scott days where despite not performing, the same players get a gig week in week out.

As pessimistic as it sounds I'm expecting another trashing down there
It reeks of Brad Scott’s selection policy, I was criticised for suggesting that different players are held to different standards by the match committee but there is nothing surer. Let’s hope this doesn’t end like it did with Bard with young players being delisted without being given an opportunity whilst experienced senior players get away with making the same mistakes week after week.

Those senior players:

Corr, McDonald, Powell.

Sometimes I think it's possible that the coaches must give very different instructions to players than the fans understand. Otherwise, it's hard to understand why Tommy Blamires will be playing VFL this week. He comes in, runs 15km a game, gets it 18 times, uses it pretty well, scores a few himself, and has good inside 50s and a few goal assists.
Does he?

I’m sure Brad is impressed with that there comparison… 🤣

It’s almost as if they all have different roles and positions

Do you genuinely think that Powell in his current 3 week form is a better option than Blamires?

The same Blamires that can play half back, inside/outside and covers the ground the ease.

I know who I’d rather…

I get one is in form and the other isn’t, but they play very different roles. One does corridor and the defensive arc, the other is wing.

The question you should be asking is who else in the VFL can do the Powell role.

Unless Powell has had some responsibilities he's done well that none of us have noticed, then it's starting to border on negligent to keep him in.

The other change is about right. People could make the argument that it should have been Corr out, but tbh it's much the same.

Not exactly inspiring, can only assume that other than changes for glued-to-the-whiteboard players they have a philosophy of minimal change. Will that go away when we have had more time with this gameplan?

There have always been a couple players worse than him in every game as a minimum. I think it is the role that is basically the issue and why he should be dropped. Maybe he is doing the role part better than we think.

Powell keeping his spot and Corr keeping his spot.

Actively hindering the teams chances again.

Brilliant.
What the **** is this selection panel man
The only rationale for keeping Powell in the team this week is that there are no other obvious replacements.

The fact Blamires isnt able to get back in the side doesnt make any sense. He did nothing wrong in his first 6 games.
Powell hasnt doesnt much right. I could even make a case for Konstanty to come in and run with Holmes if FOS goes to Smith. Or send Konstanty to Stewart. Or Dempsey.

Just rip your hair out to back in the same 22 again and not address the fact the opposition half backs got a hold of us and were the main reason we lost a close one.

It's almost like these lifelong football people know more about it than you! Imagine. They should spend more time on big footy so they can avoid the silly mistakes they make.
We lost last week. No one has been dropped except for the guy who was a late in.
