Anyone get the 150th year book? I ordered it on Wednesday. Hopefully it comes by the end of this week :)

A good read?

I also ordered the 08 highlights dvd... Not sure why

yep, I got it and it is good. John Harmes "Loose men everywhere" is still my favourite.

Don't think I'll be chasing that DVD ....

i got it. Also got mine signed by tom harley and he got a paper cut while signing it, wonder how much that puts the value up?? :)
Anyway i think it's good.

Not sure if there's an author as such; I believe it's a compilation of stories covering the club's history and people. Edited by John Murray, who did the same for the Dees last year.

Yep, each chapter has been written by a different author. Up to the 1930's at the moment. Has been a really well put together read. It also shows you somethings don't change with age. They included a cartoon from the 37 grand final, one of the squares has collingwood blaming the umpires hahah :thumbsu:

Haha. Read an excerpt in the Geelong Addy a few weeks back, and people were complaining Geelong were handball happy........back in the 1870's!!

So you're right, some things don't change. :p

And Tom Harley will be playing this week despite concerns from the medical staff ;)

Don't buy it expecting a history of the club because it is not a history book [280 pages by the way].
More a set of interesting photos, and a few stories about players and admin from most eras.

Has basic records at back, although they too have gaffes in them. Some players listed as B&F [prior to 1930] didn't win that award at all, and then there is the nonsense about the mythical 'Champion of the Colony' award which never existed.

Balance of coverage is - as I expected - weighted towards "recentism." The 20 seasons of VFA play [including 7 premierships] receive so little coverage that the era is described in only nine pages.

Many fans will enjoy the book, but perhaps it is a bit over-priced.

From the heartfelt foreword by Bob Davis through to the Honour Board listing the champions of the club, the book is the ultimate piece for any Geelong fan’s collection.

The book presents essays on the founding of the club, the early beginnings, the exciting 80’s and 90’s and many more.
You will also find in-depth interviews and discussions on 43 of the people who made Geelong who it is throughout time. From colonial heroes such as Jim McShane and Peter Burns through to 50’s premiership stars Bernie Smith and Peter Pianto and finally the modern day champions including Matthew Scarlett and Gary Ablett jnr.
The crowning jewel of the book however is the hundreds of photos, many never seen before, that illustrate why the Cats truly are the Greatest Team of All.
