Everyone else has been doing it, so I will to.:thumbsu:

Round 1

1. Melbourne - Jack Watts

I think it's a given the Watts will end up at Melbourne. He is the logical pick. The Dees have the issue on their hands of do we try and solve our problems up forward or do we solve our lack of quality ruckmen problem. If it comes to that I think you have to fix the forward option by going the best KPP in the draft where you can possibly find an adequate ruckman to develop further into the draft. Watts is obviously a freak.

2. West Coast - Daniel Rich

After retaining Seaby during the trade period I now think the Eagles will go down the route of take Rich here and hopefully snagging another ruckman later in the draft. The have previously built a premiership winning team focusing on the midfield, and adding Rich to Masten and Ebert could have the same effect in time.

3. Fremantle - Nicholas Naitanui

Might be bound for Fremantle now that West Coast retained Seaby and the Dockers off loaded Warnock. I still believe they would be hoping for Rich, but if Naitanui turns out it is exactley what the Dockers need. A young supremely talented boy who will attract a lot of publicity to a relatively new football club.

4. Port Adelaide - Tyrone Vickery

Tyrone Vickery is the last of the big 4. Lade has 1 year left in him, Brogan isn't young. They have 1 other options on their list now Deluca is gone with only Giles as a young ruckman. Lobbe may be used forward. Much like Brisbane and Leuenberger Port won't resist taking Vickery.

5. Essendon - Michael Hurley

They'd be silly not to take Hurley who is clearly the 2nd best KPP in this draft, and if they don't a think Carlton will jump for joy. If they take Hurley they start to build a list around some young talented KPP in Gumbleton, Ryder and then Hurley. With 3 young talls with that kind of ability their future looks bright.

6. Carlton - Jack Ziebell

They should go Ziebell as he is the best available. Has good height for the type of player he is and will develop into a very strong player at AFL level that can play different roles. I watched him closely in the TAC Cup final and while his impact wasn't huge he looks like a beautiful footballer.

7. Brisbane - Hamish Hartlett

Apparently Voss had a bit to do with him at the AIS and likes him. Brisbane and Voss have signalled out the fact they will look to the midfield and Hartlett can play inside and outside. Very promising kid and I think Brisbane would be happy to add a quality young midfielder here.

8. Richmond - Shaun McKernan

I tossed up a little what Richmond would do here. They would probably like another midfielder and I wouldn't be surprised to see that, but they could also look at another tall forward option. They have Hughes who looks hot and cold and also have Putt in development and Schulz is given a few chances each year to cement himself and never takes it. I think if they took McKernan a future forward line with him and Riewoldt as talls looks promising.

9. North Melbourne - Steele Sidebottom

He was probably close to the top 10 mark before the final against Dandenong, and may move up the order a little, but not too much considering the players in front of him. I think he will either go here or at pick 8.

10. Adelaide - Lewis Johnston

I could see a couple of player going at 10 to Adelaide. McKernan is one, Hill another, and Sidebottom if he slips. Hartlett would be almost certain if he slides, but I think they will look tall here and take the home town option, although they seem to take Victorians alot with their first pick. They have Walker in development, I think Tippett will oneday play ruck, and the uncertainty of Hentschel and Burton and Sellar who knows. Johnston would sure up their forward line which seems to be their biggest problem with good young mids, 2 solid defenders who are not old and a good young ruckman.

11. Collingwood - Tom Swift

I'm not sure what we will do, you can just never tell. We're likely to bluff everyone and take someone rated second round. I personally think we could bite the bullet and take the risk here. We have plenty of kids and if Swift works out it could turn into one of our biggest draft success's. His stocks have risen after the draft camp where he tested well, but MM doesn't get sucked into testing. Hopefully he showed a lot of character in his interview.

12. Sydney - Jackson Trengove

They seem to like tough, short nuggety mids, but this season I believe they should go tall as they have aging players like Barry, Hall and O'Loughlin who are important to their structure with minimum time left. Time to develop a talented, young, athletic tall.

13. St. Kilda - Sam Blease

Some suggest he will go top 10, other think he could slide to the priority picks. I think the saints should go him. They would like to find a young line breaking midfielder to develop alongside Armitage for the future. I think they've signalled they'll look to the midfield.

14. Western Bulldogs - Ayce Cordy

No brainer. The saints and crows, and probably Richmond have already stated they will bid for Cordy, probably to keep the bulldogs honest and take him in their first round where he belongs. I don't think the dogs will be to disappointed about that. A sure thing if any.

15. Geelong - Nick Heyne

It's hard to suggest what Geelong will take. They loaded up on KPP in last years draft with McKenna, Simpson, Taylor and co, now they will likely take a midfielder with their early pick this year. Swift has been mentioned at their pick and I suppose it will be a good selection as he will get plenty of time to develop, but if he's gone after a pretty good draft camp they might take Heyne who seems one of the best availble here. Weird dropping action but classy enough with x-factor.

16. Hawthorn - Stephen Hill

A lot of people would suggest they take Lisle, I don't think there is a need as they have Thorp and Dowler developing as key-position players, and Gilham is underated. Stephen Hill could go higher after a very good draft camp, but if he doesn't I don't see why Hawthorn won't take him. Maybe Collingwood will look at him at pick 11. He needs a bit of size and at Hawthorn there is no hurry for him.

Priority Selections

17. Melbourne - Jordan Lisle

Bit of a free hit here with pick 19 to come. Lisle is a possibility. They should look to a couple of KPP in this draft after Morton, Grimes and Maric last year. They have Rivers, Garland and Martin down back, but you can't complain about KP depth and Rivers is injury prone.

18. West Coast - Chris Yarran

You here good things about him, but also bad things. One thing is clear, he is very talented, but like Leeory Jetta did he may slip into this area. AT present West Coast have some pretty good medium forward who are generally leading and mark forwards, and Kennedy is young and talented, but they don't really have a crumbing forward, and this will be Yarran's go early on. They have Wirrpanda who goes forward now and then, but lately he looks a little past it. They need this type and it's just another chance to add a very talented kid.

Round 2

19. Melbourne - Mitch Robinson

They'll change it up a bit here and take a midfielder. He is overage but had a big impact at the Nationals and could probably come in and have an impact early ala Palmer. He looks good and will add a bit of pace and carry to the Dees midfield.

20. West Coast - Aaron Cornelius

After taking 2 locals I don't think West Coast will pass up an opportniy to take another player forward who can take strong grabs and kick goals. A few people don't rate him, others rate him highly. I don't mind him and with 3 picks inside 20 the Eagles can justify picking him up here.

21. Fremantle - Michael Walters

Like Yarran his go early on would be as a small forward before maybe moving into a midfield role later on. Fremantle need this type of player just like their cross town rivals. The retirement of Farmer means they should go his type. They have Mayne as a medium/small type forward, but he's not really this type.

22. Port Adelaide - Nick Suban

I wouldn't be surprised to see them go another tall here, but I think Suban is the go. Thomson who was an early pick and inside midfield has asked for trade so they may try to off set that by taking another inside midfielder type. Schoenmakers is also a big show at this pick.

23. Essendon - Rhys O'Keefe

I reckon Essendon would be happy to take the dashing defender here, with the vision to turn him into a line breaking midfielder in the future and if not he will be a satisfactory running defender. Wouldn't mind him sliding through to our second pick.

24. Fremantle - Matt DeBoer

Being a hometown boy I think Fremantle will use the pick acquired from Carlton on the midfielder. Now that I have them taking Naitanui at 3, I think they might look to take DeBoer to add to their quality young mids in Palmer and Ibbotson.

25. Brisbane - David Zaharakis

I reckon Vossy might jump at Zaharakis if he is still available. Like I said earlier they seem to be on the lookout for talented young midfielders, and Zaharakis fits the criteria and if still availble will be a good pickup for the Lions.

27. Richmond - Neville Jetta

They have small/medium forwards, but their only real crumbing option has been Brown who is getting on in years. Tambling should continue to move into the midfield and there will soon be a spot up for grabs for a small crumbing forward. By that logic Jetta could be taken.

26. North Melbourne - Ryan Schoenmakers

The Roos have put Jones on the market and seem to have lost faith in him. If he is moved on they could off set the move by taking Schoenmakers who moves well, has good hands and a long rangey left foot. Perfect replacement and the roos do need to add a little something up forward.

28. Adelaide - Tom Lynch

Tall utility type that could play as a lead up forward also move into the middle. Adelaide could do with more talented tall players, and the fact he could swing into the middle is a bonus. Quality tall midfielders are worth their weight.

29. Collingwood - Daniel Hannebery

Reeks of a Collingwood selection. Bottom aged and Victorian. Tested really well in the endurance and is a talented young midfielder that we could definitely make use of. Would be happy with him.

30. Sydney - Jayden Post

A player that is growing in reputation. Highly talented tall, that could develop into a quality key defender. Likes to take the player on, and takes some big marks. If the swans could nab Trengove and Post with their first 2 picks they could sure up the key position stocks.

31. Western Bulldogs - Clancee Pearce

Running defender but could be turned into a midfielder type. Looks pretty skilled, strong and hard at it. And would be another midfield option for the dogs in the future if they developed him well.

32. Western Bulldogs - Paul Cahill

First real live pick for the Dogs with Cordy going in the first round. They need to keep going tall as if they do 1 will turn out. They like the SA boys and should have a good look at him. Likely to take someone we've never heard of.

33. Geelong - Mitch Banner

Once again who knows what they should do, probably just go with who they think is best available. They might look at a player like Banner. Inside mids are the players that can come in early.

34. Hawthorn - James Strauss

Young utility type. The hawks will be looking to add depth to their list. Strauss is a good kid who plays out of defense and in the middle. Their key position stocks are good, as well as their midfield stocks. Their KP's are younger so they may as well add small and mediums.

Round 3

35. Melbourne - Jordan Roughead

They need to find a young ruckman to develop. There was no secret they were keen on Warnock but missed. They have Jamar who is a battler, Johnson who is a more talented battler and Meesen who can't get right but isn't really a ruckman. It will come down to Roughead and Redden. Roughead just getting over the line here.

36. West Coast - Jarred Redden

Next young ruckman to go. Nice young developing player with plenty of upside and improvement in him. Not a lot in young ruck stocks at West Coast with Cox and Seaby both 25 or over, and only Sullivan on the rookie list. Redden will add to the ruck stocks which becomes very important with depth.

37. Fremantle - Tom Rockliff

Young medium forward who would add something a little different to Fremantle's forward line. They have Mayne who is also a medium small, but a different type to Rockliff. These types of medium forwards are becoming increasingly popular in todays style of play and a good one is worth his weight in gold.

38. Port Adelaide - Matthew Broadbent

Good hometown boy who uses the footy well. Possesses good height for the position he plays, and if developed well could become a weapon for Port as he can play as a insider or outsider.

39. Geelong - Jamie Sheahan

Pacy inside midfielder who can also carry the footy. I have Geelong taking midfielders this year as they took talls with last years selections. Sheahan goes alright.

40. Carlton - Mitch Brown

Might go a little higher, might go a little earlier. There's a fair bit of love for Mitch Brown on these boards at times. As a key forward I would think he might come into calculations here. Blues would be happy with him.

41. Brisbane - Kade Klemke

Another midfield option for the Lions. If you look at their delistings and trades they have outed a few small/medium players and need to re-stock here. Reads the play well and is suited to half-back.

42. Port Adelaide - Ashley Smith

Really good young boy from my old mob. Really like him and apart from Scully would've been their best player. I think the power will look at him here. He might go earlier. Nice foot skills.

43. North Melbourne - Sam Wright

Adds something a little different up forward. Played a pretty effective game in the TAC Cup final and has a bit to work with. Roos may use this pick on a quick midfielder which they're in the market for.

44. Adelaide - Chris Hall

Good, nippy little small forward who can run through the middle. They drafted Jacky last year, but teams tend to possess more than 1 small forward these days and it is usually successful. Hall and Jacky could strike up a nice partnership. He is also a SA boy.

45. Collingwood - Luke Shuey

Pies need midfielders, so they're likely to draft talls, but Shuey would be worth looking at. They could probably even justify taking him with a second rounder. Good inside mid who works with his hands well but has a bit of a ? over his kicking.

46. Collingwood - Tom Hill

Pies will take a KP player somewhere throughout the draft. They'll probably take a big key forward like Hill with the visions of turning him into a defender. Good kid, and bottom aged. Last draft where you will be able to take bottom aged players for a while.

47. St. Kilda - Rory Sloane

Wouldn't mind adding another pacy small. Sloane can play through defense and in the middle. Saints adding some depth to their smaller brigade.

48. St. Kilda - Riley Milne

Two selections in a row for the saints. I've selected Milne here, no not because of his last name, but because he is a key defender at 192cm and plenty of development in him. Hudghton is getting on, they will need to find another young key defender.

49. Geelong - Ranga Ediriwickrama

I'm not sure how many selection Geelong will have. Not many, maybe only 4, maybe even 3. NSW scholarship boy who in reality will most likely be taken by Geelong with their last pick, they're just testing the waters to see how much they have to pay for him. They won't let him past.

50. Hawthorn - Jarrad Blight

Might go a bit taller with their 3rd selection. Good utility with Hawthorn trying to improve their depth.

Hill to the Hawks might be a good match.
I'd be surprised to see Yarran slide, but things like that do happen.

Nice to read some of your rationale for the picks, and as you know I'm happy with Hannebery at our 2nd. :) :) :) :)

I like that you've do right-ups for each, don't like people just putting names without right-ups.

From Carltons point of view, love Ziebell at pick 6, exactly who we should get if he's available. For pick 24, i'd take Schoenmakers ahead of Lynch, especially now he's reported to be 194-195cm. Very good prospect for mine, has a lot between the ears, plenty of athleticism and has a lovely left foot kick. He could even go higher than our pick, plenty of promise.

Pretty decent job though i feel, there are a few omissions that i wouldn't have falling into the third round and i'd be surprised if Broadbent went that low but other than that, one of the better ones.

Top effort, I like your reasonings.

If Shoenmaker and O'Keefe are gone at Pick 28 for the Crows, They may be tempted to pick someone like Phil Davis (from North Adelaide) or Mitch Brown who may have been Thrid round hopefuls.

Also on fitness alone Craigy may take Daniel Hannebery, but i have not heard anything.

Also Adelaide have had trouble convincing some potential draftees to come to adelaide which is a bit of a shame, considering most ppl who bag adelaide have never been here

Very good draft, I like it.

Just my point on Adelaide is that I amd nearly certain Adelaide wont go Johnston with their first pick if Trengove is available.
Debour I would be happy with :thumbsu:

haven't heard much about DeBoer
probably because he is always taken before our second pick
getting a tall forward (Johnston/Schoenmakers) and a young mid would be the best outcome for us in the first 2 rounds
would also be happy if we took Rockliff there instead
would be extatic if Sidebottom dropped 1 more pick but i feel it's not gonna happen

Swift and Hannebery are great selections for Pies.

Overall, one of the better phantoms I've seen due to the reasoning.

Thoroughly dissected and overall result impressive.

That happens, and Swift's injuries don't plague him badly, that's a ripping first two rounds for us. After that, all of a sudden, Cousins or not, the midfield's future looks bright. Hope that happens badly.

Not a bad effort from a melbourne view, but i reckon that Lisle is probably only going to play as KPD and that probably the one thing that melbourne have enough of.

Melbourne shouldn't and probably won't go KPP at 17, as whatever player they want there should last until 19, as WCE are loaded with KPP talent.

And I don't think we would even Look at Jordan Lisle, his forward skills are not as good as Cornelius and Melbourne has a very deep backline for KPP with Rivers, Garland, Warnock, Martin, Frawley and Mcnamara.

Apart from that it looks like a very solid and well thought out draft.
