no big suprises... though teddy #1 in 1%s caught me off guard

- barry is angry, mol has been injured.... yet they are 1 and 2 on goals.... proves our need for a key forward
- and the frees against... the worst offenders are getting about 1.5 a game... way too much

rectify those things and we'll be a better team

Jarred has had a very good season i am so proud of him

Teddy is the unsung hero

Agreed. One thing I noticed while compiling the lists is that Teddy was right up the top in all the important stats although not quite top 5 material. He had a very good game again last night and has been a fantastic pickup by the club. He deserves to finish top 5 in our B & F this year as a reward for being close to our most consistent player.

I wasn't suprised to see Mattner rate highly in both the good and bad categories. Overall he's been a good pickup for us but really needs a little improvement in both his disposal and his defensive capabilities. Too many clangers and too many frees against but a good creative player none the less.

Its a catch 22 almost players who get alot of the ball are more likely to have more clangers. I agree hes been a great pick up for us. On the frees against i wonder how many of those were for high contact? Generally see alot of frees paid against for tackling players ducking their head. He did rate well in tackles.

Yeah, I think the swans faithful overrate Mattner a bit. He's marginally better than Dempster, but not by much. I think opposition coaches dont mind him having the ball.

im guessing that 1%-ers include spoils, hence why they are all backmen in the top 5?

if so, what would be the 1%-ers (minus spoils) top 5?

Thats correct - 1%ers refer to knock ons, spoils, smothers and shepherds. I don't know if the stats are available individually. At a guess I would say our leaders without the spoil stat included would be Kirk, Bevan, Jude, Ablett and Buchanan.

id love to see individual stats (but im not sure where you would find them!).

in particular: smothers (showing the willingness to really put the body on the line) and shepherds (the quintessential act of team play). you score well in these areas and you score well in my books!!!

No no, I know that's how many they kicked in the H&A, I'm just saying, that doesn't count all their Finals goals, which would give Hall leading goalkicker again.

I probably should have checked. It was the latest stats from the swans page so maybe it didn't include the figures from the Bulldogs game therefore it will be the totals from H&A and the first final.

Yeah, I suspect that's what it was, because I know that given his four goals Friday night, he would have definately won our leading goal kicker again.

EDIT: Ah, it doesn't count finals on the Swans page it seems, I'll check AllTheStats.

Yep I was right, here you go:

GOALS

1. Hall - 41
2. O'loughlin - 36
3. McVeigh - 32
4. Goodes - 28
5. Moore - 25

Only stat I could really work out from ATS, sorry.

Here are some stats using the idea that ALL players played 24 games (using their averages for the season).

GOALS
1. Hall - 65
2. O'Loughlin - 53
3. Veszpremi - 36
4. Goodes - 34
5. McVeigh - 32
6. Moore - 25
7. O'Keefe - 24

It would have been a damned good season if all 7 of those players got that many goals.

How often did O'Loughlin and Hall play together? Plus Playfair went down. Goodes was injured for a good half a season. Even Moore and O'Keefe had injury problems. Veszpremi was underdone too!
