Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

I think everyone is tired of reading posts questioning bombersno1 cred about watching the draftees. Tracking IP address on certain dates is just plain ridiculous! Take hiim/her for his/her word and move on FFS.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

I would laugh at Dodoro and Keane if they passed up on Bastinac and Christensen at #24/#26.

Honestly if they are available, and these two don't pick em then they should be sacked.

Agree?

Well if you want to log on and get bullshit then feel free.
I do not have to take her for her word as she has a proven history of being caught out in a lie for 2 years now.

I am not forcing you to read my posts so put me on ignore if you do not like it ;)

Agree?

Please tell us why they are any better than the other players in their "area"?

I think I'd back their opinions before yours.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

Hang on a sec.

I've read ant's reports and from what I gather he would clearly pick one of these two boys as our first choice at our second round picks.

Are you prepared to go against his word?

Firstly, and no offence to Ant, but you would take a BF posters opinion as a basis to have our recruiting team sacked?

And second, and again no offence to Ant, I would back the recruiting team at an AFL club's opinion over a BF poster, personally, I'll back whoever we pick up this year and reserve my judgement until after all players in the draft have had a few pre-seasons, gotten their bodies right and have been given a good crack at showing what they can do.

And if that mentioned BF poster is part of the recruiting team from another AFL club and has been for 3 years now albeit only as a part time lacky :)

Not that it really matter as it is all subjective until the boys have been on the lists for 2 or 3 seasons and are playing footy.
Merv Keane is a good operator so i have confidence in what he does.:thumbsu:

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

I like the way so many of us (me included) are doing a list of who we want at each pick, and more often than not the two or three options given at #24 are not amongst those given for #26 :D it's interesting how we like to compartmentalise things, even though the picks are seperated only by north.

Interesting point of view Saladin

I for one actually think that the other players mentioned will all be gone between our picks (11 - 23) and the last player will be left. Therefore leaving us with one of the newly listed kids at 26. Heck If we had the chance to draft both Christenson and Bastinac then hell, go for broke.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

Sigged.

See below:

I was genuinely unsure whether it was a great post (which I now know it was) or a groupthink post.

Anyone can do a phantom draft, but it takes people like ant555, foj1 or HFF_07 to do one worth reading.;)

I dont think ANT555 has done a phantom draft on BF !

He is too wise !

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

I have actually gone off Alex, after watching him a couple of times this year, he seemed to go off the boyle when things didnt go his way and often dropped to go in and out of games. I liked the way that both James Wall and James Flaherty were better defeders this year than Alex.

As for the Marigliani V Barlow comment.

Barlow is more of a running player, who is a more flashy type of player, whereas Marigliani is a more grunt type of player, will get 20 + possesions, but you wouldnt know he had it that many times.

If you are questioning my creadability Yaco, that is fine, i dont mind. these are just my comments on certain players. All for the fans of BigFooty :thumbsu:

Absolutely not questioning your credibility.

I know that you watch a bit of VFL footy and wanted a point of comparison between Marigliani and Barlow - as Barlow is often rated as one of the best 2 or 3 players in the VFL.

I have done the same thing with the WA watchers with Trent Dennis Lane. He is a small forward like Hayden Ballantyne ( who i rate highly ) and I asked for a comparison between the two players.

Keep up the good work.

It seems perfectly logical to my way of thinking.

At that stage of the draft you are often looking at needs basis -so pick 24 may have 3 outside midfielders and Pick 26 may have 3 small defenders.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

He aint big either at 188cm and he is on the skinny side. The fact that he has very, very good pace and extremely good hands at ground level will lead him to having to play a small/medium forward role anyway as although he can take a grab he is not strong enough body wise to do anything else and lets face it his most magic bits of play have been swooping onto the footy with incredible one handed pick ups.
Similar to Josh Hill, perhaps?

More like limited in exactly how much he can now put on the interent after signing a new contract at the start of this year ;):)

That's the thing HFF.

I've got a bad bad feeling that Dodoro and maybe Keane will look at these two and say "hm... too small" and pass on them, picking up a 6"2 freak who can jump and run.

BTW I'm all for picking Talia at #10.

I would definitely not be against Talia at pick 10. Is good that we have a couple of weeks to look at how Neagle and Gumbleton are going in the pre season, although not enought time to actually see there worth.

I just hope Dodoro and Keane see the talent and pick them. Hm, Daniel McCalister, Kepler Bradley, the list could go on. pick best available not best possible.

Re: Draft Picks 10, 24, 26 & 33

Agree with all above.

I guess my point was that I'm afraid Keane will pick Fitzpatrick/Craig ahead of Christensen/Bastinac.

Zaka ain't that big.
If anything, last year we headed more towards classic footballers with early picks.

GoldenboyHird_5, I actually think that we may only take a ruckmen in the rookie draft. With the emergence of Ryder and the homecoming (so to speak) of Hille, the availability of Laycock and the steady progress of T-Bell, we should be fine. Obviously if a good good ruckmen is still available at pick 33 (in relation to me selecting Gawn as a preference here) then choose him. But as mentioned, 3 ready to go ruckmen, one development ruckmen and a long term prospect. We do really have all areas covered. With the selection of a rookie ruckmen, we would be covering the basis if Laycock does not come through to see the other end.
