It's an interesting one. He looks like he'd be a great pickup at 24 if he lasts that long. Similar to Redden he comes from country SA so he doesn't have the same go-home risk as guys like Brad Ebert.

He looked very, very athletic.

Key forward = tick
Hair colour = tick
Non-victorian = tick
Athleticism = tick
Over head marking = tick

Can he add bulk to his 80kg frame?
Tasmanian = cross

Sorry Tim

Yes he should be fine on the bulk front although probably not a monster. I would compare him to Sam Reid in likely body shape.

A bit undersized and in the bottom 10% over 20m.
I'm alright with the former. I haven't agreed with your (and plenty of others) views on the impact of his height. Still reckon someone has to play on Hurley, Darling etc who are playing as key forwards just as much as the likes of Hawkins.

The latter is news to me and has me re-thinking my view on Plowman. You don't expect a KPP prospect to be a gun runner but you expect an elite one to be average at worst particularly if you have them pegged to play on gun running forwards like the two I mentioned.

Maguire would have to be one of the slowest key backs and a similar height but he goes alright. I wouldn't use pick 8 on Matt Maguire though.

If we were to go with Plowman i wouldn't be too upset. If he is the best player in the draft that plays back then i can understand. As crazy as it sounds i also wouldn't mind if they grabbed another but someone who can play KPD like a Tanner Smith. If they were to go this way you would assume that our bakline would be looked after for the next 10 years especially with Tickner next year and J.Clarke on the rookie list. Giving us three future players 195cm. Plowman, Docherty, Harwood and Golby to add to this. Defence wins premierships and this would go along way to rectifying our need for the future. Merret, Adcock, Patfull, Maguire have 3-4-5 years at best.

Times over 20m can depend on how well, especially a defender, reads the game i think. I mean, 20m times you are talking about 2-4 seconds. If a defender reads the play half a second quicker than his opponent, and 3.5 turns into a 3. I know it doesn't work exactly like that, but i guess that is how slower players often don't seem to look slow on the field.

Although i still agree, it wouldn't be such a big deal if he was just 'average' at that test, but to be something like the bottom 10% should make you stop and think.

No face to face but interest has been show with agent l believe , fare to say interstate clubs would have to have a one on one with draftees who live in different states , but knowing him and us being old fitzroy/ lions supporters he would live to be there

MELBOURNE has escaped penalty at next Thursday's national draft.
The Demons still face unprecedented penalties but investigations into its alleged tanking strategy in 2009 are continuing.
Given clubs need a week to respond to any potential charges, there is not enough time for the Demons to reply to any charges.
