Guys can we please keep it civil and on topic? I don't come here for goofs and spoofs, leave that to the professional comedians like Rove please.

While I thought we did reasonably well I mist admit a few things about out drafting still concern me. The major one is that we didn't pick up a genuine inside mid unless they're looking at Robertson for that role our someone on our list already.

The other was that we took a couple of in between sized defenders who play key defender roles. Only time will tell I guess and Cutler will most likely be a hbf rather than a third tall with Gardner taking that third tall role. Just worried he doesn't have the offensive game you want in that position.

Don't mind the speed of Taylor. He's an interesting one where there seems to be 2 very divergent opinions on him. He could make or break this draft for us.

Overall it looks alright but I still have some concerns with our list still but most of those were there pre draft.

Think we absolutley nailed that draft. Would not change a thing. We are still probably a key forward and an inside mid away from completing this team but I'm glad they decided to wait. Most of the inside mids available at our picks bar aish had a deficiency of some sort and as for akey forward with mccartney gone we would of only got another b grader, something we have in abundane. By the end of 2014 we will be in a perfect position to know who has stepped up amd whether an insid mid or a kpf is the priority for our fist pick. Really good situation to be in with all th other positions basically covered. Also - he will take a season or two to get going but dont underestimate how much of a weapon lewis taylor can be inside.

Prob. Stating the obvious, but our glut of 2nd round pics put us in the best position to take Taylor and Robertson. With most clubs having secured a mid in the first round very few would have had the flexibility to adapt and take a 173cm mid, with only one or two picks and other priorities. Have a feeling the club had Robertson pegged early and where confident that he would survive till late due to his lack of football this year. Again with only a couple of picks other clubs didn't have that luxury.

I'm actually really starting the like the Robertson selection more and more. I seen a bit of him last year where he was pretty good in the colts with a couple of deficiencies with his outside game and defensive game in general looked like it needed to be worked on.

But gee did he dominate in round one picking up 36 disposals and two goals. Didn't see his second game but he only managed to pick up the 12 disposals. I think he may have got injured during that game at some stage. Not too sure.

Like I said, he needs to apply more pressure when his opponents have the ball. Could prove to be a steal.

Is Robertson an on the knees contested ball winning scrapper or does he hit the ball at pace from the ruck?

I am not worried about any of the new draftees leaving. I think the club will realize where it went wrong and fix the issues. We might lose one here and there but I am confident Leppa and the new development team will get us on the right track.

Every one of them looks a potential long term player, don't they? I know all draftees give the same vibe if your club has them, but I am really impressed with our choices.

James Aish- my family is S.A. & they can't believe so many clubs passed him up. Huge talent.

Gardiner & McStay. Defenders for the future. An area of need.

Lewis Taylor. On the AFL site draft tracker there was surprise at him still being there from about round 13 on, & will prove to be the steal of this draft, IMO.

Cutler & Robertson are both in the same mould - highly rated as under agers, but injury this season caused them to drop off of the radar. With the number of picks we had these are good speculative high risk/high reward choices we could afford.

Kudos to our drafting team - a good stragedy well executed.

I read this morning in the Courier Mail that Lewis Taylor's dad is a Fitzroy supporter. It read "His father Simon,a Fitzroy supporter was beaming with pride when his son joined the Lions on Thursday night."
I doubt this kid is leaving anytime soon.

Watch Rocky's interview with Taylor, his dad is present and has a couple of words, pride is very evident in his face.

Not surprising considering the family hails from the old Fitzroy recruiting zone, but awesome news nonetheless and his old man did look proud as punch in the clip with Rocky.

Don't want to curse the lad, but I'd happily give him the #1 jumper unless he opts for the jumper of another Mortlake, Fitzroy and Bears product in the #13 worn by Leon Harris' younger brother; Bernie.

Number 13 didn't work out too well for the last pacy, small midfielder we recruited from the Geelong Falcons with a late 20s pick. :/
