I've always thought James Strauss could be handy as a small forward. Has a good kick and isn't a bad runner. Agile enough too, and finds space. The knock would be his ball-winning ability.

Forgot about James Strauss. I would delist him too.

Without seeming to be harsh but when he broke his leg, he may have extended his career.

If he didn't break it, he would've shown that he is not up to it and prob been delisted then.

We aren't going to throw away money by delisting contracted players. Nicholson, Bail, Strauss, Byrnes and Pedersen will all be on the list in 2014. Jetta is the only uncontracted; and he'll be staying as IMO. Unless a golden egg pops up for the PSD.

The guy is just another BP dud, the high end draft pick wasted on him and the broken leg have seen him survive longer than he normally would have.

So looks like we go into next week's draft with Picks 9 and 40, with 57 being used to upgrade Clisby.

We are going to have some real depth in the midfield if we can keep all these guys on the park. Having a look at some info on Riley and he looks like he has racked up the clearances in the SANFL. Also a lot of people on the Crows board disapointed to lose him.

Is this accounting for Clisby being upgraded? Additionally - where do Jetta and Nicholson fit in to this? Does the 2 spots remaining have them counted as on the list?

So effectively, could we use Pick 9 and 40 in the draft, use 57 to upgrade Clisby and retain Jetta and Nicholson OR does someone have to be delisted to make room?

Not talking about who should / shouldn't go, just trying to clarify EXACTLY where we are at

I think it's Jetta. Nicho can tag and line break, while all Nev does is bust his bones.

Nicholson was a bailey style player , jetta is a Roos type player .. I would guess anyway

Yeah you have it right Viney from what I understand - we currently have space for 2 lives draft picks, so if we want a third at #57 then either Jetta or Nicholson goes.

We have to take 3 picks in the draft: Clisby upgrade counts as one, which leaves us with two live picks. If we wanted to take three picks Plus upgrade Clisby, then yes, we'd need to drop one player off the current list.

Suspect we won't do that though. It's rumoured that most clubs will be out of the draft by the end of the second round, which will see a fair number of potential third and later rounders drop through to the rookie draft - where we have 4 picks.

Completely agree with this - although I would still be surprised if we kept Jetta over Nicholson, as Nicho has pace and great fitness.

Nicho really isnt what roosy used to look for in a player, means nothing now though as the sydney game plan from 05 wouldnt hold up now anyway

Id be all for keeping them if the draft really is that weak

Id rather pass on a pick and run one short for the year than keep Jetta.

As for your theory about Nicholson, Roos went out and got Marty Mattner from Adelaide, someone of a similar ilk to Nicholson.
