I don't mind the idea of Stanton as a tagger, but he's not enough of a prick. This is a problem.

Get your drift, but doesn't have to be a dirty niggling tagger. Ultimately, it depends on how much satisfaction he would get from killing someone else's game. Some people enjoy spoiling, tackling, grinding down an opponent and rendering them completely ineffective. Wouldn't mind seeing it, as you would expect he'd be pretty handy on the counter-attack running off his bloke - that is, if we don't rush forward and kick it beyond him to a lone opposition player sitting in our F50.

Cameron Ling- good example of a tagger who wasn't a 'prick'.

Well, not a prick in the Baker/Liberatore style, anyway. But I tend to agree, I'm not sure if Stanton has enough 'mongrel' in him to be a tagger.

alright, gonna throw up an idea, shoot me down if necessary, but what does everyone think of stew crameri the midfielder? would be an absolute nightmare matchup, and god knows we need some hardness in the midfield right about now

He was on the verge of being delisted after playing a couple of games through the midfield. Only thing that saved him is that Hirdy had no idea about him and wanted to have a look at him.

It is actually quite hard to put a team together for our best 22, although that is a good sign. The most interesting thing that I have found is that I think Pears/Hooker are not best 22 when you put a team down on paper.
I like Browne instead of Melksham, but with Melky travelling to Colorado and TRB persistence with him in 2012, you would think he is their long term plans.

If Winderlich can play the role he was doing against Adelaide, that is a improvement on Monfries. Hopefully Winders can stay healthy and get 20 odd games from him. I also think that Hardingham can be a swing man when the match up suits depending on opposition etc.

Our depth is quite strong when you look who is not in that team.

Pears
Hooker

Kavanagh
Colyer
Davis
Hille
NLM
O'Brien

Think it will take another 2 seasons before our best 22 can be cemented.
I don't expect us to challenge for top 4 consistently until 2015 and beyond.
11 players will make the grade, the rest are lucky to be playing in our club jumper

May not have been a prick but he would have finished his career without teeth if he tried those sorts of tactics a decade or two ago. Actually, I don't think Baker's or Liberatore's teammates thought they were pricks either. The only difference is that Ling had a media profile.

Browne IMO is slightly over rated on this board. Id have Melksham easily in front. Obviously things can change but Browne hasnt shown that much at the top level.

Actually think he's shown a bit in the games he's played. And he's got that big strong body which is probably what Dons fans like about him.
On the other hand, I don't rate Melksham at all at this point. I think his ball use is poor at times and he goes missing.
