Thats interesting footy1st - Bloomfield is a name associated with Maroochy footy club back in the early 90's, was one of the Roos very best. Indigenous bloke, played at Collingwood for a year or 2. His daughter attends Maroochy SHS and she too you would not pick as indigenous based on colour of skin but her old man certainly was dark. Would not be surprised if a relation as it isn't an overly common name.
Bloomfield,the recruit that Labrador have gained from the Geelong Football League.......apparently is a gun and has the credentials to back it up.
In his 2 and a half seasons with Lara, has won a B&F, represented the GFL who are current country league champions, and has kicked 65 goals, 95 goals and 27 so far this season.Thats 187 goals in 2 and a half seasons.His departure made headlines in the local paper down there. The Lara coach reckons he is one of the best players in the comp.Big write up about this on the Geelong football league website if your interested.

Yep! He is a gun! I've played many years with Donny before he was at Lara and he kicked 200 goals in 2 years when he was with me! So approx 360 goals in 4 years including many bags of 10+
Only stands at 175 but can play small or tall! Will destroy the qafl

Yes, just learnt he played for Albion in the wdfl ( Melbourne metro) for 2 seasons before moving to Lara. He bagged 199 goals in those 2 seasons with Albion. Apparently is about 5ft 10in, and is a freakish mark with unreal goalkicking sense,, obviously.Clubs down there trying to poach him with offers of a 7k sign on fee and 1500 a game.Whatever deal he did, he moved to LARA, in the higher standard Geelong football league, on apparently a good wicket.
Wonder what deal Labrador did to gain his services ?????
Regardless, he may well be the recruit of the season. Still, he has to adjust to the way footy is played up here.But if he is that good, he should be a gun in the QAFL.

Yeah I heard he wants to play for palm beach but like you said someone else did his contract talks! Shame would of fitted in well with perry-bolt and Kelly down there

Donny trained at Labrador last night and seems a good bloke and a very talented footballer. Labrador didn't sell the farm to get him, among other things he was attracted to playing under a great coach in Steve Daniels.
Palmy got very grubby once he had signed at Labrador and there actions will most probably be pending investigation.
Anyway time to let the fella play some footy at the club he chose and signed for this season and next.

He has signed a 1 year contract with the option for 2, but is definetly not locked away for next season according to him

If you move up to the Gold Coast I don't think you would go to a club that you wouldn't want to be at ?? If he wanted to play at Palm Beach im sure he would be playing there.

Blackdog from what people are posting about how good this Bloomfield is, your saying he just decided to play at Labrador because of the coaches. Surely he would be getting and pie and can of drink for his services. And what could of Palm Beach done to have an investigation, offer two pies and a pastie?
Once a player has signed pinocchio no club can talk to him unless they put in paperwork to request an interview. Sounds like a true indig player, small, leap over tall buildings, goal sense. Could attract a few people down to watch him play which would be good for labrador.

sd 86 I think everybody knows that, they just seem to be 7-10 goals better than everybody else. But must admit Morningside aside shes a ripper comp with everyone bar two sides still in contention for finals. Looking forward to seeing how Broadbeach go tomorrow against the juggernaut hope its a good game.[ well fairly close]

Well started out the day with high hopes watching Broadbeach take on the juggernaut in Morningside, by halftime game over Broadbeach 10 goals down the juggernaut rolls on. Went over to Labrador to have a look at the Donny Bloomfield show, and it wasn't on, poor bugger done his knee in the first 5 minutes of the game. So into the rooms to have a punt, must say nice set up out there at tigers, and for my punting....#neverbettingagain
Yes, terrible for Bloomfield,,,, u wouldn't read about it as they say.With his credentials, I was really looking forward to see him play.
